I'm not sure if this was brought up earlier, if at all, since i'd rather not read through 35 pages of posts...

Does anyone really care about the giant argument between scanlators and many online readers?
Brief Summary

It seems off-topic, but it involves many major series translators, which basically get you your manga unless you find your own raws and can read Japanese/Chinese/Korean. In that case, you should help translate and get your favorite series out faster.
If i need to shrink this to fit any guidelines, let me know.

Oh yea, I've heard a few people disliking MangaFox.
I personally wouldn't care much if they get some ad revenue as long as they don't have annoying ads and provide good quality scans THAT AREN'T WATERMARKED, seriously, **** watermarks.

I read pretty much all my manga on Eatmanga and Batoto.
I would read more than 3 of my total ~10 series I keep up with on Batoto, but they aren't there or simply aren't updated.

I read my manga on mangareader, except for thecompany's translations. My adblocker blocks their advertisements though. Either way I don't care. If the translators want to make money then they're the ones who have to come up with a website like mangareader where each of them hosts their scanlations and adequately distribute the money. If they don't then it's their fault that someone else is getting "their" ad revenue.

The problem wasn't that they wanted alot of money for the scanlations. The problem was that they translate for free, because they want to help everyone enjoy their favorite series, and mangafox steals the scans and watermarks them along with usually deleting most of the credit pages. Most of the scanlators have their own sites where they host links for their translations. The watermarks by scanlators are put there as a sign of protest against the sites that host their translations without crediting them. Yes, they know it's very annoying for readers, but it's better than outright just stopping translations which would hurt everyone.

Btw Canoas, the site you say the scanlators need? It's Batoto, plus most of them host their own translations on their sites.

Yes, they host their translation on their sites, not in ONE site. No one's going to go through the trouble of checking 10+ websites for new manga.

If the scanlator make a website themselves where they put their manga then people would go there instead, since the manga is there first. They don't, so they have no right to whine because someone else does it instead.

As i said before, they all put it on Batoto. However, they also have a "waiting" period before they allow for Batoto to host, as they obviously would want people to come to their site first and help them. Batoto helps them as well, but not as much as directly having people come to their site(s). As for searching for your updated series, people should know the release rate of their favorite series if they actually liked them alot, and scanlators scanlate whenever they get RAWs from whereever the series comes from. Getting RAWs also costs money, so most of the money scanlators want goes to actually procuring the RAWs.

The only reason none of the popular scanlation groups haven't just closed down is, as i said earlier, because they know it'll hurt both them and the readers.

And as I said before that's completely useless. If you're going to put it on Batoto with a delay then no one's going to read it because other websites will have it much faster. They're destroying their own business. If they weren't complete ******s they would easily shut down any competitior websites like mangafox, instead they're making sure that websites like mangafox get all the profits.

^I do have to agree that that's kinda dumb.

They should just put it out on Batoto first without delays and just make sure there are links and credits to their site (since Batoto respects those).

That would make way more people read it on Batoto.

The reason the other websites have it faster is because they all steal the scans immediately after the scanlators put up the download links using bots. This is unpreventable without just locking down the site altogether, thus hurting the people who are trying to help them. Also, there is no legal way to stop MF due to the fact scanlations are illegal in themselves. It would be like a known criminal trying to sue another known criminal. Batoto does respect the scanlator's delays for the reason that it helps the scanlators much much more if people would just download the scans from the site instead of reading online. MF also sells stuff that benefits from the stolen scanlations. Scanlators do all this stuff for free, only asking for donations, which amount to around $2000, while MF gains around 10m from stealing the scans, and selling unlicensed goods.

Anyways, i rest my case. This is too frustrating for me to try and explain, so I'll leave it at that. All i can say is "Dont support Mangafox and it's affiliates."
