For masteries, i take exhaust and heal again in the support optic.
+/-0. The idea of Trundle support, while well thought out, is a troll pick. While he does have the kit to be played as a support, he doesn't have any positive lane matchups at all, save perhaps against Janna and Sona. He could probably outmuscle a Blitzcrank lane, but he doesn't have enough damage to win against aggressive-supported lanes, and will generally be in trouble against very safe lanes such as Soraka or Lulu-supported lanes. And his lane is extremely gank-prone because he can't counterinitiate against enemy junglers.
Actually Trundle's early game damage with this build works very well. You're forgetting that he actually does have enough damage to win against "aggressive-supported lanes". The runes and masteries I listed were made to counter these aggressive laners. Taric for example, is melted at level 1-8 by Trundle's Rabid Bite. Also Rabid Bite increases his attack damage significantly, while lowering the enemy's by a decent amount as well. You'll start off with over 70 ad at level 1. You can steal 10 ad from the opposing adc and his damage would be minuscule compared to the damage you and your adc will be doing.
Trundle also works well against the very safe lanes ( Soraka and Lulu). He has a speed buff and a slow. To prevent them from getting away. While soraka can constantly heal up, Trundle's sustain due to Decompose still matches up to near levels of a Soraka.
Another thing is that the range on Pillar of Filth is actually really high. This means that his lane isn't extremely gank prone if you ward properly. I've stopped plenty of Lee Sin players in their tracks with Pillar of Filth. Mix that with your speed buff Contaminate and you're home free. The key to playing support Trundle is complete mastery of your Pillar of Filth. I can stop ganks with it, cancel Warwick, Nunu & Willump, and Katarina ults with it and lock enemy supports in corners, forcing them to walk around it leading to a easy kill. Positioning is key with Trundle, he isn't some homing stun champion that's easy to play.
Saying that Trundle has no positive matchups at all is quite a bit of a underestimation, you should try it first. I found that Trundle has very few negative matchups when it comes down to it. Trundle is even a great counter to the infamous Singed. I'll record some Trundle gameplay as support against various other supports just to show everyone how it works because I know many people won't take my word for it and won't try it out.
The fact that you weren't entirely sure on this bothers me, to be honest. Its not hard to click on an ally to see if they have the buff on them.
