Zhonya's should be a standard thing as an AP Nasus. Armor, lots of AP, and your ultimate still works when you use the active.

nice guide, but unfinished, like the counters you put there only involves master yi, and some chapters are bit short... still an awesome guide tho with good explenations and the concept looks good to me. when finished, you really getting that +1 from me :)

Just wanted to say that I've been playing Nasus for a while, and I've tried multiple builds. I really like AP Nasus (although that's not always the build I use), and it saddens me to see this guide downvoted so hard. I build almost exclusively AP with a Warmogs and Lich Bane. That way I have more killing power. I'm not AS tanky, but my ult drains ridiculous amounts of life + Q, and I can sustain during team fights. Also I like to use Zhonya's, so I can be invincible while stealing hp.

Although your build is different, +1 to you for making this guide. Screw the haters!

I think this is not the way to play nasus. BUT! It is a nice idea and could work in some situations ;)

so +vote for the cool idea. I will try it out in a pvai game.

Just for everyone's info building Nasus as an AP/AD hybrid or even as an AP with a secondary focus on farming Q makes your laning and harassment so much greater early game. Most teams AP mids can't handle Nasus' tankyness and with a few level into your spirit fire you can safely farm around the safe zone or at your tower even while sneaking in a few last hits with your Q. I think being a Nasus that does not have tunnel vision on the Q makes for a more versatile Nasus. Nasus is not a true tank, yes he is tanky but he has much more potential as a damager. I run an Ap and Ad version of this with great success. This is really one of the most ambitious and helpful guides for Nasus out there that helps you have a strong game at all points except maybe the mid game. Thanks Silver for helping me think outside of the box.

Hi - love your guide. Just started playing Nasus and am enjoying him very much.

I noticed you are in the process of updating the build today. Could you please explain a bit about your decisions? For example, choosing regen over hard mana and health. The thing I liked most about this build is that it didn't use regen. Could you explain to a relative noob like myself why regen is better?

Thanks!

AP Nasus as mid, solo top or support is extremely strong.
Given the recent changes to Nasus, he can simply bully people
with his E. Early game is great, mid game he's lags behind a bit.
But once late game hits, and he has his AoE slow and can transition
to tank/initiator, it just results in great team fights.
I like to use the Zhonya's to give me a bit of survivability after
I jump in with my ulti and E. You can still work on the Q, but it
becomes more a tool to finish people off when you are on cooldowns.

I love this guide i used it but i opted to buy Tear of goddess right away so u are almost never oom any point in the game if u use ur w and e enough u can max it out and upgrade it to seraph or muramana add 1000 to your mana seraphs is best 60 bonus ap is no joke i went with my ad runes flat and armor pen marks armor seals and ats glyphs flat ad quins it really balances u out without buying sheen or lich bane ur q still does decent damage surprisingly this actually helped my mid game immensely which u point out is kinda rough for nasusup until lvl 11 at which point i rank up ult so if u have the rod or rylis at that point u just have to pick and choose ur spots and never run from a team fight even i died my team would clean up in fact thats how i just won a blind pick pvp against an anti mage darius lol

it was just harder to gank i play him ap tank sup pusher honestly i just pop inhibs lol my score was only

2/3/12 but ill take 129 ip all day long working on better ap runes muhahahah

Tried it!!

Early game zoning enemy is easier than most people would think.
Mid game is kinda hard due to ur skill are a bit behind other's. (i think this is because of long Spirit Fire cooldown and weaker Siphoning Strike which also result to weaker Soul Eater.)
Late game is when you shine the most!!

I advocate people to try this..! hehehe +1 from me!!

Read the guide, will try it TODAY.
Every aspect i thought about before looking for an AP Nasus guide was explained, i totally agree with farming, Spirit Fire scales with AP so it's really effective with minion clearing, (ideally, like i said, haven't test this yet.)
Will comment (and vote.) after i tested it.

though i think my teammate will cuss the moment i say i'll play AP Nasus.. ahaha!!! o well..

Thanks for the great guide, keep up!!

Maybe if he had a gap closer to help himself peel ... This build costs way too much, and by mid game you will be way too squishy to be tanking teamfights.

His Spirit Fire at lvl 3 takes out entire creep waves. I generally have double the other team's mid farm. Most effective method of earning money as Ap Nasus.
Buy a few wards and use them for protection
    Use
Spirit Fire to push to their turret.
Walk to enemy wraiths and use spirit fire to drop them.
Go back to lane and drop the wave with spirit fire.
Walk to your wraiths and take them
Go back to lane and use spirit fire to drop entire wave.
Repeat.

I have never had a problem with being to squishy. Either they are all focusing me which means my teamates can drop their dps or I'm sitting on all of them letting my ult leach them for about 7% per second.

Just saying yes it is expensive but it can be easily achieved if you know how to farm at all and as I say in the build, if you are getting focused then you are doing your job correctly and your team, if they dont fail, will smash them.
