well you build an AD Thresh with AD Items xD
i'd rather build it with an on-hit build, since building him only based on AD won't really get you anywhere, whereas you build him with AS and AD you can farm on those minions, grab those orbs and get that awesome passive working, plus the passive from the Q really synergizes with an on-hit build imo ! i did some games with him with that kind of build, it's a tough road until you start getting some AS, but after that it's all fun xD late game is terror for the enemy team

Focus on as over ad, and like lugignaf said, BRK is pretty well core. It is a viable option, but really not optimal. The role they released him as is really the best way to play him, as a sticky support with a crazy amount of utility.

You're an ADCarry, of course you're squishy when fights roll around.
You get free armor from your passive, so dueling another ADC is easy too.
Plus, squishiness doesn't matter too much when you land a lucky crit for 1500 or so endgame.
In mixed damage I might add.

why would you build thresh ad?
the only thing he gets is the number of souls guaranteed on each hit. in order to get max damage off his q passive you have to wait -10- seconds inbetween attacking.
on top of that, the bonus damage is magic, which wont really be helping you out that much.
