Hello everyone!

I'm pretty new to LOL (I'm level 12 at the moment). I'm not too bad, I'd say, but at the moment I mostly play vs Bots or with my buddies at the office.

I have the following champions: Morgana, Karthus and Annie. Bought in that order. I'm pretty good with them (I bought them after trying them out and doing pretty well).

Which champion should I buy next? I'm trying to find a champion that would have a similar playing style to these guys. I tried Malzahar a couple of times but I was pretty bad with him, so he's not an option. I tried Anivia a couple of times as well, but he's quite slow and didn't get many kills with him. I tried Brand only once, so I can't really say if I got used to him or not (while with Annie I immediately knew I should buy her after my first game with her).

I didn't like Fiddlesticks, Ahri and Zyra.

Any suggestions? I was looking at Vladimir's abilities and he looked interesting, but I haven't had the chance to play with him so I don't know if he would fit my play style.

Vladimir is fairly similar to Karthus in terms of power curve and being good at AoE damage over time. He's pretty expensive though so I'm not sure he's your best choice since you're just starting out. For something cheaper you could try Ryze who also has a similar easy to use DPS playstyle and is virtually free. Lux is also very strong right now and she's similar to Morgana in many ways.

Just try out whatever interests you on free weeks. When you're starting out it's best not to blindly buy a champion unless they're really cheap

Ryze is the cheapest, yet most powerful, he is pretty easy to use, basically spam spells, but can deal a surprisingly lot of damage. Get him.

Maybe you could try Gangplank, who is also simple to play.

Hi guys, I followed your suggestion about Ryze, he was quite cheap and WOW!! On my very first game with him I did pretty great: 10 kills, 14 assists and 5 deaths.

The only thing is that I haven't really gotten used to his combo... But other than that, he's pretty good. I guess I can have him for now until Vladimir, Lux or Gangplank become free so I can try them out and see which one of them fits my style.

I forgot to ask though, what do you guys think of Amumu? Based on his description, he sounds kinda close to Annie, but I haven't played with him so I don't know.

Amumu is primarily a jungler. Seeing as you're a mid player, Amumu is not a worthy investment unless you plan to jungle with him at later levels. People will flame you if you go mid with him post level 20.

Try Talon. I think he's free now. If you like the assassin play-style that Talon emulates, consider Akali, Diana, Katarina, and Kha'Zix.
If I helped you out, +REP me ^_^

He's quite a lot different, Annie is an AP burst caster who's generally played mid whereas Amumu generally is played as a full tank in the jungle. He's a pretty good champ though, might be worth trying him out if/when you decide to learn the jungle role.

I agree with this. I play mid whenever I am not running support. Ryze is always a solid mid and is run at the highest elo levels and in the pro tournaments. Lux is also a solid mid and is definitely similar to Morgana. I would go with those two next if you want to keep rolling mid. If you really begin specializing mid there are some other fun mid champs like Orianna.

Surprised you have success with Karthus...I am terrible with that guy XD

Ok guys, I finally got to try out Gangplank, he's ok but I'm not very used to melee heroes, so I didn't do incredibly well with him (I didn't do bad but I didn't do amazingly well to say "this is my next champ!").

I liked Zilean a lot, he's quite fun to play.

I was wondering, what do you guys think of Cassiopeia? Is she similar to Karthus?

Somewhat similar, her Q is extremely similar to Karthus' Q and both champions deal huge amounts of damage over time. Cassiopeia is a lot more single-target oriented, much stronger in lane and has her AoE stun (although it's somewhat hard to use). Her weakness is lack of mobility and unreliable CC which makes her vulnerable to ganks, plus her DPS becomes **** if you don't trigger the cooldown reduction on Twin Fang.

You sound exactly like a friend of mine. He didn't want to play anything but ranged so he bought Caitlyn. He was around your level and refused to play anything but adc even when playing with friends that are lvl 30s. We finally got him to try Master Yi and now he loves playing some melee champs like Shyvanna and Yi. My suggestion is, force yourself to play something other than mid to get used to something other than ranged champs. I'm not saying you have to play it all the time, just try them.

As for Cassiopia, I really like her, as she has crazy range, but you have to get used to her. You probably won't do well with her your first game or so. Just be patient with her and try a few games so you can get used to her. Just remember that if they are poisoned, you can keep using her e to do massive damage.
