I will be going for Hanasaku Iroha this time. Then I'll start watching either some action/fantasy anime or drama/romance anime. Romcoms shouldn't be chained as they easily get heavy on the heart.

Heavy on the heart? Daaaw~~ aren't you just a frail little flower :)

I've seen Hanasaku Iroha. It was decent. Animation was pretty good, but it's mostly just a bunch of cute girls doing girly things(and more realistically so than K-ON and similar stuff), with the occasional moral lesson thrown in for good measure. So if that's your thing.. but it's not really my thing at least.

Wait wait I thought "heavy on the heart" meant being fed up with something, not sad and grieving ! My english failed me in public once again :(

But yea you were right, I think I'll put Hanasaku Iroha on hold, I'm not in the mood for it. I'm watching True Tears now. So far so great !

The story won't 'go to ****' unless they diverge from the manga.
Because the 11 volumes of manga so far have all been amazing.

Episode 10 of the anime will be at chapter 11 of the manga, so it's a pretty safe bet that they won't get any further than maybe chapter 25 before this season ends. There's 45 chapters total so far (with a new one in just a few days!)

I just finished True Tears

Before I talk about it, keep in mind that this anime is the very first anime I have ever watched. I have watched it when I was 14 (I'm almost 20 now) and I had no clue about what Japanese animation was at that time. So we can say that True Tears is what got me hooked to Japanese animation, and since then I kept downloading new series.

I'm sorry in advance if my opinion is biased as I am happy It lived up to my expectations after 6 years since I have watched it.

True Tears is a drama/romance anime (think Clannad) that has everything the romance animes released after 2010 don't have.

Characters aren't clear cut. I had doubts about who would the main protagonist end with till towards the second half of the last episode.

No fillers. Oh god, that felt great.

There is no non-sense/********/unnecessary fanservice or whatsoever.

You really interact with the anime. At one time I was like "You son of a wh*re! How could you." because the events are well represented.

I recommend it. As far as I'm concerned it's one of my favorite romance anime of all time.

I'm downloading Ergo Proxy. I just hope my brain doesn't overheat while I watch it. I've heard it's one of the most complicated yet greatest anime to understand.

I wanted to ask, what's the very first anime you've watched? The one that made you discover Japanese animation?

Yop, definitely bias :P

I have a problem with how unrealistic most love stories are in anime/manga in general. The best love stories I remember are the ones that actually belong to a different genre.

Just a quick query, so see how check the waters:
1. Are there several love interests?
2. Are there more than 2 love interests?
3. Does the main character conveniently get to know all the girls (assuming it's a guy) one by one before starting any kind of relationship?
4. Are there convenient accidental romantic moments with all or most of the love interests?

If two or more are 'yes', then I think it's pretty safe for me to skip it.

I think it's really good, but it has been a while since I saw it.
It starts out REALLY good. Like, incredibly good. But then it gets kinda meh towards the latter parts; with one episode being really stupid, it was like a filler, but it contained actual plot, and one episode being... weird and poorly animated(the doppelganger episode).
I think the ending was pretty good, but I don't remember it too clearly.

Well, I guess Pokemon/Digimon kinda counts, but I only watched those because they were on TV when I was little and didn't know better.

The first anime I chose to watch was Elfen Lied. It's pretty good.
It also has graphic violence and nudity. My sister walked in when I had the ED up once (the ED has nudity). That was a bit awkward. I was like 14 at the time.

I think Ergo Proxy was the second or third anime I watched (not counting Poke/digimon).

Then I watched Full Metal Alchemist.

Berserk was like fifth or so.

I think I literally watched only dark, heavy and serious stories during my early anime years XD

So I watched the first 5 episodes of Suisei no Gargantia and I am sufficiently disappointed.
I was not disappointed because of expectations I had for it, but rather, because of the expectations that first 10 minutes set up for the anime.

The first 10 minutes shows the main character risking his life to allow his comrades to escape to safety. He shows bravery and devotion and his actions are very respectable. It could have been an anime about an all out space war, portraying the epic efforts of this one squadron as they help out in the war. Portraying bravery and friendship and strength of heart.

What we get instead is some fan service, thrown in with a beach party, a carnival and some ****ing community service. The entire story just doesn't do much of anything. The first 6 episodes are completely wasted at an attempt to develop the characters a little but the anime fails to even do so in an engaging manner. The first 10 minutes showed me space battles and camaraderie, not parties and girls with big breasts.

I dropped this anime at episode 5 as it was going nowhere. I did watch the first minute of episode 6 to see if anything called "plot" was going to happen but all I heard was a carnival so I dropped it.

7/10 Enjoyable but a ton of lost potential.

Oh you, making poor decisions. Anyone who has seen this week's episode is laughing at your miserable life choice right now. :P

If you wanted a space mecha battle anime and are not patient enough to wait episodes for the plot to develop, just watch Macross Frontier.

If it takes 7 episodes for a 13 episode anime to go anywhere in terms of plot, it is not worth watching.
