Should capital punishment be legal?
first, this belongs in offtopic.
second, the point of prison should be to rehabilitate prisoners, to show them why they were wrong so that, if the time comes, they can reintegrate with society.
but the government only seems interested in throwing you in a box thats constantly under their surveillance.
i (obviously) don't give much of a **** for human life, but capital punishment is barbaric.

amen
capital punishment also costs more money than life in prison (at least it did when i did my project and research on it like 4 years ago) so yes it saves space in prison but it also costs more money to do it
and as everyone should know there have been more than a few cases where capital punishment was used and the criminal was later found to be innocent after new technologies have been developed, in which case the judicial system can just go "umm...oopsie?" whereas if someone has life in prison they can at least get out and life the rest of their life
plus giving people life in prison having to keep sitting there thinking "i killed someone" is much more of a punishment than being killed

I think we should throw all prisoners on an abandoned island. Let them survive on their own. We don't care about the prisoners anymore, whether they live, die, whatever.
It would be a very cheap solution and a very effective one.
Capital punishment has the ethical issue: Isn't this murder itself? Shouldn't the guy that pulls the lever of the electrical chair be punished aswell? Stuff like that.
And the whole improsining thing is technically and ethically fine, but economically, nonononono. Waaaaaaaaaaay to expensive for people that made heavy mistakes.
Just throw them on an island, problem solved :P

like i said banana, capital punishment actually costs more than life in prison
throwing them all on an island would cost a lot of money too
Capital punishment can also be done by a rope. Quick, easy, cheap. You can use the same rope over an over again, no problem.
And throwing them on an island is not expensive. Just let the island be in the middle of nowhere, and they have no chance of escape. Let it be an oilrig if necessary. Don't even throw guards out there. Just don't care :D
When they come back, then we get a rope, because they fled the island which they shouldn't do, naughty naughty prisoners >:)

The great costs of capital punishment aren't due to the methods of execution, but due to the costs of keeping people on death's row and investigating to try and prove beyond a doubt that they are definitely guilty and not their evil twin or something. Correct me if I'm wrong, DillButt probably knows more about this than me.
