Personally I feel that the best solution would've been to do a quick investigation into his background and then maybe checked his house for weapons if they were suspicious for whatever reason. Detaining someone and then possibly sentencing them to prison on light circumstantial evidence seems irrational. Especially when said evidence was provided by the person who provoked him into saying those things. Its doubtful the player who reported him actually believes any of his allegations.

Quoted:
Deputy Chief Steve Dumyahn told the paper that there was no credibility to the teen's threat.
"He has no weapons and no access to weapons," he told The Sun Times, adding that the teen was brought into the station for questioning. He was later charged with disorderly conduct.

The two are up for completely different charges. JC is up for charges of terroristic threats. The case you just quoted is fine. The crime fits the charge. With JC, the case does not.

saying you're going to go shoot up a school isn't a terroristic threat?

Quoted:

A terroristic threat is a crime generally involving a threat to commit violence communicated with the intent to terrorize another, to cause evacuation of a building, or to cause serious public inconvenience, in reckless disregard of the risk of causing such terror or inconvenience. It may mean an offense against property or involving danger to another person that may include but is not limited to recklessly endangering another person, harassment, stalking, ethnic intimidation, and criminal mischief.

oh what's that it fits the bill?

out of the blue? sure, it probably is.
in this context, no.

you still are reluctant to understand the difference in context. i'm sorry you are that serious of a person. maybe good for other aspects of life, definitely not in matters of sarcasm.
