To the OP, I hit lvl 30 sometime in late March or early April and I have yet to start ranked. I've been working on champs and waiting for my internet to become more consistent before I tried. Literally gonna start tonight if my friend can duo with me or else Monday.

Don't get in a rush to start ranked or you will just get stuck in low Bronze and struggle to get out. I had a friend do the same thing and he struggled for several months to get out due to AFKers, Feeders, and bad supports(he mains adc). Just focus on playing normals and getting 2-3 champs for each role. I had been playing too many champs and realized that I kept playing against people that specialized in 1-2 champs and would lose because I didn't know the champ I was playing as well as my opponent knew his/hers. So focus on really learning your champs.

If your goal is ranked, I'd suggest starting matchmaked normals asap, practice the format, gain experience, mechanics, a larger champion pool and more viable runepages.
If you for some reason want to follow my ranked journey to gold, you can do it Here.

I am against asking for rep, only rep me if you think I contributed well or said something wise.

My advice would be to wait and practice more in normal games before you go to ranked. If you start ranked right when you hit level 30, you will most likely be placed in bronze or maybe silver and will probably stay there for a while.

I started playing league this year in January so thre stats say but i became serious with the game early April and am now silver 4 my first placement was silver 5, How i may be different is probably because before league i had well over 200 games in warcraft dota and about 150 in dota 2 , so i found it very easy to get into the game. before you start ranked games you must of course have 15 champs I think that's wrong though you should have 25 5 of reach lane you must know how to play each lane if you are bad in a lane don't ever fill it. I am fairly strong in all lanes actually I own most except top lane so i dont lane there much unless i use elise teemo singed tryndamere and udyr, because i am good at them. What i have found about this game is that if you go in ranked or even normals with a champion YOU know by that i mean right down to the cool downs the amount of hits it can take how well it will trade with another champ and most importantly its counters you wont lose that lane 1 v 1, But league isn't that kind of game so there are a number of tools you should make good use of that i am sure you already know.
1. Map awareness : knowing where everyone is not just the enemy team but your team will make sure you dont die in stupid situation's.
2. Warding : Not just the support's job every member of the team must ward except of course the adc but depending on the progress of the game it may not needed though the jungler mid support and top must ward the jungler wards to protect the buffs and to also help out mid if they cant leave the lane same goes for bot and top I main jungle and (try to make sure you have +400 gold before you go home)i always buy a ward or two on my first back and either ward the enemy camp or river to help out my top or mid laner. Top and mid ward as a basic rule to not only avoid ganks but also so that your team knows where the enemy jungle is or is not as well as the enemy mid. Top well you just dont want to be 2 v 1 and caught out of position so you ward the brush by the river and tri brush there is actually a great warding picture on this site in one of the miss fortune or quinn guides i dont quite remember.
3. Pings : pings are a great way to ask for help or alert your team of a missing champ instead of typing then losing cs cause you stood there for 3-5 s .
4. Creep score : THIS is the most absolute IMPORTANT thing in this game NOTHING I really MEAN nothing is more important than creep score. Now creep score isn't the main thing really but lasting hitting to get cs , as an adc you need it as top you need it as mid you need it as jungler YOU NEED IT (but not that much cause your ganking and getting assists and making life hell for the enemy team) as support you may assist your carry with last hitting if you want your lane pushed or if your being passive then you can harass the enemy adc so and mess up there cs. 15 cs is a kill know that burn it into your head. Now in the first 10 minutes the early game as any laner except jungler you should have +50 actually +60 cs 50 is bronze.
5. Champions and knowing your counters : now this is the last thing i can think of i mean there are runes and masteries but this site has you covered on that. Earlier i had said that you need at least 5 champs the reason for that is to counter pick and to also make sure your pick synergies well with your teams pick. So basically what i mean is your not the odd one out. so top lane is for bruisers kinda would really suck if you went there with a champion like say em ashe who is an adc with no escape to speak of besides her slow. Or you go mid with garen things like that will ruin the game but being level 30 you should know all this, now as far as counters go the absolute best way to deal with it in the event that you ever are counter picked and i mean like really hard is to lane swap, either with mid which is what most people do and works very well OR a risky thing but can be absolutely awesome if your team works well is to have the adc and support take top lane and solo bot lane, this is if your top if your the adc then your only hope is ganks or trading with top lane and if your mid you have top etc.
There really is nothing to ranked games to be honest Just know your weakness not only with the champion or lane but with yourself and observe and exploit the enemy laners weakness, What i noticed in my first few games was that map awareness was very poor with the players i was matched with not only that but top and mid almost never warded so when i had that lane i would exploit that by either ganking if i was jungler or roaming to bot lane for an easy klll or assist. One thing you must know though is you should never roam or leave your lane when its pushed there is a near 100 % chance you will lose it and thats free gold for the enemy team, and one other thing that i forgot to mention the dragon as is the baron in again the first couple of your games you will find that the enemy team may not even have a jungler so when they are up take them BUT again be aware of the enemy team movements if two or three players are dead then its safe if not and they are not visible it is not safe but with good warding you will always know when to get these two very important items in the game.
I wish you good luck and hope you enjoy your time playing ranked it will be hell you will meet the worst players in league and sometimes some really good players but hopefully what i have shared with you will help you along, I am sure i haven't mentioned everything but this should be enough i feel, a neat trick also is to always invade and always as the whole team this messes up the enemy jungler's life and in turn makes your teams better because you will have one buff for your mid or adcs depending on the enemy jungler champion. and to close if at anytime you see a champion new to you search up the name on this site or google it will take maybe a minute but it will be worth it as you will know what your up against asking your team will be faster if they played or own the champion. Well then that's all good luck again
