The playstyles are very different.

ADC's in a nutshell:
Lifesteal:
Bloodthirster or
Blade of the Ruined King (usually rushed first)
More attack speed:
Phantom Dancer,
Statikk Shiv or
Trinity Force
Crit power:
Infinity Edge
Armor pen:
Last Whisper
Defensive:
Guardian Angel,
Banshee's Veil,
Randuin's Omen or
Mercurial Scimitar.
Vayne usually gets more attack speed instead of crit power, and
Ezreal is somewhat different than most ADC's. Just a quick summary I always use for all ADC's.

Crit power:

Armor pen:

Defensive:

Why are there all this ADC builds?
Why not one build, for all the ad carries that exist?
I mean, most of the time they have actually the same build with some differences but you can add here tips and tricks for AD carries and sometimes be more specific. Does a build like this already exists or not? If not I'm maybe going to figure that out...
