So I'd probably rate it around 7/10. There are several quite substantial plot holes that they never address. The biggest of them being the hole right at the end. [spoiler=Spoiler - Last episode] There should have been three (total) Okabes when Okabe goes back to save Christina the second time. He would have had to fool both the Okabe from a few weeks back(the one "native" to this time) AND the one that failed saving her. One way of doing it could for example have been to somehow place a bag of blood on Christina and some other precaution(like the special kind of gel that imitates flesh?) to make sure that she won't get hurt by the knife, but while at the same time the Okabe that stabs her still believes that he kills her (somehow temporarily suspending her heartbeat for example).[/spoiler] I was REALLY psyched when I thought about how they were gonna play that out. I thought they were gonna do something really clever, BUT NOPE. THEY DONE FUCKED IT UP >:[ They're also way too frivolous with the concept of repercussions of time travel. (and many other things, but I can suspend my disbelief somewhat with those) [spoiler=Spoiler - Towards the end] People somehow remember what happened in other time-lines (or world-lines). This is just flat out impossible. Okabe is the one moving between time/word-lines. He is moving to an entirely different world, nothing except for his own memories from the other world should follow him there. The shemale for example. She would never have met Okabe if she wasn't a guy. So when they change him into a girl Okabe simply should not know her at all.[/spoiler] Geh.. I know it's hard to make a good narrative and at the same time keeping it logically solid, but these things are just not excusable in my opinion... A game of sorts that consists mostly of reading and making choices that affect the story. [/quote] yeah i spotted the first spoiler you presented for sure...not only that BUT: [spoiler=Spoiler - Last episode] Yes he would see two of himself but at the end when he is watching his past self and he states that his past self is about to go through a lot of awful times on that world line (can't remember alpha or beta). this would suggest that the world line would eternally go through circles as he would continually perform the same d-mails than go back on them...than travel back in time...blah blah rinse repeat. also with the last episode...with the gel being dry...didn't mayuri turn that thing on and swing it around a couple episodes earlier? that suggests that the gel could not have dried out. [/spoiler] [spoiler=Spoiler - 22nd episode?] the scene near the end of the episode where they are using the IBN to delete the SERN data and kurisu runs up the stairs...what was she going to say? seriously...it is completely left open..i am guessing she realized or solved something...why put that in there? [spoiler=Spoiler - threads] they did discuss that apparently as they traveled through so many threads on that world line through his repeated jumps that some of the memories were manifesting deep in their hearts/as dreams also. so they kind of addressed the memories portion and as far as the shemale goes changing him to a her i'm not sure why that would negate the idea of him/her ever knowing them. [/spoiler] the open hole doesn't spoil it for me though as i think it is a great story and romance. you know if you didn't think about it as much as you did you probably wouldn't have given it a 7 either...but given that it kind of FORCES you to analyze it that makes it kind of hard. satella i looked it up as a video game also and saw that it has a number of endings...one of which i thought the anime should have done and should have been the true ending so that is kinda neat that i was on the same page as the writers...so many possible endings. you should look at the alt. endings of the video game searz. i would play the game but is it translated in english? EDIT: searz if you haven't seen a movie called 'the prestige' and you can get ahold of it i think you would like it.[/quote]
