yeah, honestly guns seem to be a lot better than bows or rockets.
hell all i have to say is shroomite armor (guns), chlorophyte bullets (homing powers what) and unreal tactical shotgun. that puts any other ranged build to shame (except for cases where you want piercing bullets, or in pvp as the homing doesnt work in pvp)

It's a time-waster. Don't expect an amazing experience unless you REALLY enjoy exploring for items and building bases.
It's kind of like Don't Starve meets Minecraft with less focus on the survival itself and more on the crafting and advancing. If that holds any meaning to you.
Also worth noting is that the game is probably a low more enjoyable in multiplayer. Singleplayer will probably grow boring pretty fast.

i played it single player before 1.1 came out
after that, except for when 1.2 came out or i want to build something, i never played single player again. multi just makes it more fun. be wary of joining servers with randoms though.
they'll either spam dynamite on everything or summon all the bosses at once. sometimes even both.
edit: yeah its a wisp. found like 10 of them and several armor pieces when trying to get all my guns.
