Well, at least the views aren't actually frozen, they are slowed down if anything. THAT DOES NOT MAKE IT OKAY IN ANY WAY THOUGH.
If Google is actually doing these things then I am seriously ****ing disappointed. Cuz these things DO NOT fly with me.
I've always liked Google because of their transparency. They may record everything you do on their sites, but they're up-front about it and that really does make it more okay.
Lying and censorship is NOT okay and I seriously hope this is either false or that Google learns a damn lesson.

That said, I'm not entirely convinced that Athene's statements actually hold any truth.
Most importantly because he never provided any kind of proof.
There are other videos with those kinds of likes/views ratios. Just look at TB's Day One: Gary's Incident video about the DMCA takedown. That has a similar ratio. Not to mention that 800,000+ views is kind of viral... Especially considering the fact that her other videos average 100,000-200,000 views.

The top comments are no longer based around upvotes, they're based around attention. So there will likely be just as many comments completely disagreeing with the point of the video as there will be agreeing. Because disagreement gathers attention and makes people want to reply and discuss/threaten/insult/dismiss the point or the person making the point.

The bigass comment thingy and top comment thingy are not that big of a deal imo, cuz top comments were always trash and bigass comments can be scrolled like said before.

well the big comment thing is pretty annoying because the expand/collapse button is below the comment itself so it makes it harder to get to when you suddenly expand forty pages of script. The top comment thing...I'd agree mostly with you but on some of the smaller channels they actually use the top comment function for practical perposes.

The virus thing and the "ban recover" thing however might be an actual problem. I don't want no virusses cuz some tinky***toe gave me some links.

This is actually an even more significant issue than I thought it was on the outset. Because you can make a Google+ account under practically any name, I've seen people posing as the curator of the channel that they're talking in, saying things like, "hey it's not really safe to talk here atm so we're talking in this forum" and then linking to porn, viruses etc.

It's a minor inconvenience at worst and I'm pretty sure this will be fixed soon, because it doesn't change any of the functionality, it's just more of a QoL fix.
I'm very much against introducing some kind of limit to length myself, because of how ****ing annoying the old system was. The system really doesn't need a limit as long as it puts the collapse comment button at the top of the comments.

Yeah, that's actually a problem. But it should be fixable by something minor like adding a parenthesis at the end of the name to indicate whether it's the author or not.

You also need to consider that while these changes introduce problems they also add great functionality. I'm HAPPY to be able to link to things and write more than 500characters, because those were really annoying limitations of the old system.
And people are always more prone to abuse things and fall for said abuse when they are new and people don't know to react to such things.
As time goes by we'll see less people abusing the system and less people falling for said abuse. Just wait a few weeks, it only gets better from here.

Change wouldn't be an issue if they didn't mess with functionality. It mostly affects content creators and their ability to communicate with their commenters. The process of a content creator finding and replying to comments on their video is a complete UIX failure. It's like some intern at Google made a wireframe that literally says "User logs into Google+ -> ? -> Sees comments on videos!"

How so? Do explain, because I don't really see how that part is significantly different from how it was before..

Are you a YouTube content creator?

If so, try, for example, to moderate comments flagged as spam. Even with adblock turned off, the function does nothing. Or look for a way to reply to a comment directly on YouTube.

^ I guess the views between content creators and people who simply watch videos on youtube
differ.
I'm personally a content creator which is probably why I'm so displeased with this change :D
Also, in my previous post by old youtube I meant REALLY OLD YOUTUBE, you know - /5 stars rating and stuff.

I'm not a content creator, but I do UIX and regularly experience bugs like replaying not working without refreshing the page... which really takes away from the whole point of having a replay button.

And how does that differ from how it previously was?

How is replaying a video relevant to the comment section?...

I don't even know what you're implying here - that content creators were never have never been allowed to reply to comments, thus this functionality is *not* different from the old version of YouTube...?

That was a reply to Xeres, who was commenting on the differences between content creators and viewers. Point being that viewers can still see that YouTube has functional issues when they can't replay a video.

the replay button not working is pretty annoying, ive just started to refresh rather than pressing the useless replay button

idk its not that change is bad its the fact that youtube always seems to change once everyone gets used to the ******** in the current system
