Hello everyone!
So I played a pvp match recently, and wanted to honor our
Riven. She took on a role of ajungler (was supposed to go top), when 5th member locked his
Wukong and called top and did not communicate whatsoever since then. She did very well.
But after the mid game, she started to thras-talk to our team and enemy team as well. called us all nabs, idiots, feeders and that she could win that match alone. True, our enemy team was weak, but still, she has no right to say all that stuff.
In post-game lobby I talked to her a bit, just to find out she was already punished twice for ***** talking, and lost 400 honor points. But she didn't care anyway.
There are 3 kinds of people:
And since you can't do much about the third bunch, I gave it a thought and came up with few punishments, that may increase the amount of people, who will get scared and start to play/behave properly. Here it is:

After being punished (no matter for what), system will set this special icon as his summoner's icon, while all the others becomes unavailable. The duration of this icon being displayed, will vary (from one week to one or two months, depends on what he did). After the "redemption time", icon will dissapear and other will become available.
For a time being. Again the length of the ban will dependon how serious crimes the player commited, but his daily bonus of 150 IP for a first day win will become unavailable. After playing a game, in post-game lobby, that part of a bar, that is usually blue and says 150, will be all in red and when hovering your mouse over it, it will say something like: "Bonus IP restricted for unsportsmanship behaviour."
Or maybe he can be denied of all the IP's, that will teach them :P
And what do you say about lowering the summoner's level? This option can prove very useful for preventing trolls and general idiots from entering ranked games. I think, if you can't take on a loss in the game without being toxic and swear at your team, you shouldn't be playing competetively. Lowering the player's level about 2-6 levels (depending on how he behaved) will be enough of a punishment for this kind of people, and it will give them time to reconsider their behaviour in future ranked games.
That's it for now. I think implementing this options into RIOT Games punishment arsenal would really help, and increase the amount of amended players. Some people just have to feel the consequences that really affect them, to get better. I would love to see these ideas in-game.
Pity Riot won't see this :D
See you soon!

THE SUMMARY
There are 3 kinds of people:
- The ones, that will improve their behaviour after the warning/time ban
- The ones, who don't care about warnings and a few days off LoL
- The ones, that will be trolling no matter what, until perma-banned
And since you can't do much about the third bunch, I gave it a thought and came up with few punishments, that may increase the amount of people, who will get scared and start to play/behave properly. Here it is:
THE ICON OF SHAME

After being punished (no matter for what), system will set this special icon as his summoner's icon, while all the others becomes unavailable. The duration of this icon being displayed, will vary (from one week to one or two months, depends on what he did). After the "redemption time", icon will dissapear and other will become available.
NO MORE DAILY BONUS
For a time being. Again the length of the ban will dependon how serious crimes the player commited, but his daily bonus of 150 IP for a first day win will become unavailable. DOWNGRADING

I admitt, that Icon of Shame was more of a joke :) With downgrading - I know they will level back up, but it will take them some time.
and as far as downgrading a players Level is just dumb it will cause runes and masteries to be worthless/annoying it sucks going against someone with a full runepage when you don't
And that is the point. Would you troll if you knew that it will make your games harder and it will make you not able to compete in ranked games? It is more about psychology. Plenty of rude people don't feel that warning or fewdays ban is a punishment. But take away their IP, their hard-earned levels... and maybe next time they will think twice before ruining a game with toxic behaviour.
But you are right. Some people can't be helped.
Darealone - I was thinking about disabling chat for them as well, but then it will looks like they are not communicating with team - therefore should get punisheda gain, even if they played OK. Maybe just a partial denial would do - turn off the possibility to talkt to enemy team.
Icon of Shame...although hilarious...I don't think will work all to well. As the others have stated it will most likely a trophy for some.
I like the IP denial idea. No "First win of the day" bonus sounds like a good idea. Denial of all IP would be harsh but could be useful.
Downgrading...I'm not so sure about that. They'll just keep playing and leveling up again and again.
One thing that I was thinking is that after the first warning...if they continue to offend people and flame/troll then they should just not be able to use the chat at all. Just straight up no communication to the team...but then again...might as well ban them cuz that's almost the same thing.
"Archievement unlocked: unique icon of Shame".
I like some suggestions here, but I fear they'll never see daylight.
The problem with toxic players is that they actually believe they are right. The ones that keep doing what they are after they got punished are the ones that think the system is/other players are wrong, and that they are right. This whole philosophy is what allows this "bounce" to happen (person flames, person gets banned, person flames, person gets permabanned, person makes smurf and flames, person gets banned etc.).
So if you want the toxic player to stop being toxic, you have to let him understand what they do is wrong and that is not easy. The things you mention do not help this problem at all, they will only make the toxic players think that the system is even worse.
and as far as downgrading a players Level is just dumb it will cause runes and masteries to be worthless/annoying it sucks going against someone with a full runepage when you don't so taking away what you earned really doesn't help people be less toxic and at that point a Perma ban is always better then the downgrade. Although the downgrade would keep noobs out of ranked, it won't really do anything because their distend to bronze VI anyway.
I feel your pain I really don't think the honor system/report system works as well as it should and some things need to be changed.
