Why are people building 
Ravenous Hydra on anything that's melee?
Seriously, I've seen it on champs that would rather get a botrk to avoid getting kited and who actually use the AS(like Aatrox, Shyvana, Sion), on pretty much ANY melee AD Jungler even if the Jungler is behind (0/4 Lee Sin, better get that hydra FAST), on Zed, on Kha'Zix, on Pantheon, on EVERYTHING.
I just go to the point I dunno if the item is so darn broken/cost efficient and I'm missing it or people on drugs. I mean, it adds burst to some champs, but isn't it mostly great for splitpushing?

double dagger does a lot on aatrox ;)

Don't think so. The blade active is too good on shyv.
as to which to get 1st, I prefer bork because I like to freeze
Basically what it means is you'll be able to get in an extra auto attack if you use hydra correctly. Its core on most AD caster type champions such as Lee Sin, Riven, Talon, Khazix, etc. Not really a fan of it on Zed though.
Tiamat has synergy on a lot of melee champions.
Tryn > Split push
Lee > 2 shots minion waves so there's nothing to block his Q
Aatrox > life steal
Shyv > Q
Renek > W applies it multiple times, resets animation, Q resets hydra animation
Panth > W puts you on top of them so they take almost full damage from Hydra active
Kha > You can Hydra in mid-air
Zed > pls no, but it's for split pushing I guess. Useless anyway since W > E > Q already 1 shots waves
Let's you split push absurdly well, you kill minion waves in <3s.
Gigantic sustain + since you clear waves so fast you don't even need to fight
Active + AoE gives more overall damage than a BT unless you're someone like Riven
There might be more reasons too, but these are the few core reasons that Hydra is bought on a lot of melees.
I'm pretty sure there's one more I build it on, but I can't think of who.
