Hi was wondering what people think about this setup for Renekton

Used to run 5/25/0 getting cdr and double edged sword but I think this setup is a better for Renekton. Don't really think the average 9/21 setup is good because I don't like to get get brute force and martial mastery unless I'm planning to go deep down the offensive tree.

I think that executioner would be really good for the killer croc the way he's generally played. With it he can finish off carries faster and he can deal more damage to everyone else with his AOE kit. I don't really think tenacity is vital for Renekton and you can still get most of the great masteries on the def tree and getting some useful stuff on the offensive tree.

MAIN POINTS why I prefer this 11/19 build over the 9/21 build
*Executioner is, at least in my opinion, good on Renekton.
*Brute force is a waste of points.
*To get Martial Mastery you need to waste 3 points on Brute Force
*You can pick up more useful points in the offensive tree if you get Executioner instead of Martial Mastery.
*You do not miss that much from the defensive tree.

**If you don't want to take Executioner, IMO 5/25 or 4/26 would be a better allocation of points than 9/21 because there are lots of better masteries than Martial Mastery in the defensive tree and you don't need waste any points to get any of them.

Off-topic: If I had to choose, I would put all points required/available on Legendary Guardian instead of putting 1 point on Second Wind because SW's proc is too low to clutch your Q for so it wouldn't be very useful until you get your lifesteal item which on renekton is usually only during late game. Also, SW stops working once you get past 25% HP. So SW is only useful lategame and even during lategame I would still prefer to have all of LG than sacrificing one point on SW.

9/21/0 pretty much every single time. Double-edged sword doesn't seem that great to me on a melee bruiser. You want to be soaking up as much damage as possible. Especially on someone like Renekton who dives the back line, you don't want to be taking more damage than you already will be from both the enemy carries

This is the way to go.
Oppression over 1 pt in Resistance bcs it stacks with Randuins.
Second Wind because Perseverance is op and it still is after nerf Second Wind will bully you even more up and Legendary Guardian still provides enough ar/mr with only 3 points in it.

and you will take expose weakness over double edged sword coz it works with your own dmg and only looses 1% dmg but you can soak more.

I really don't get why people feel the need to waste 4 points on brutal force and martial mastery when they don't even plan to go deeper into the offensive tree. I don't see the point in doing that when you can just go 5-25/4-26 instead, which would be tons more useful. Martial mastery is half decent but brutal force is pretty much just a point sink that you're obliged to take to get deeper down the offensive tree as an AD.

The point I'm trying to make in the OP is that executioner would be a good pickup in the offensive tree for Renekton and you can get it instead of sinking points to get martial mastery which really isn't even worth it.

Yes of course why would you waste 1 point in a mastery that provides only 0.5 less AD then 2 Greater Quintessence of Attack Damage on an early game dominant champion?O.o

Now on a more serious note.Spending 4 mastery points for 5 extra AD at level two is well worth the price that you pay.While Executioner is a nice mastery flat 4 AD that Martial Mastery gives you helps you CS,trade, heal (cuz you are Renekton ).

Also how would you allocate the points to get to Executioner if you didn't go for Brute Force ?And do you really need Executioner that much if you are going to build 99% of the time full tank?

If you actually know how Renekton is correctly played you would know that his job is not to tank, you do not build full tank on Renekton, most commonly you build an early brutalizer to turn into a cleaver when needed and a late hydra. Renekton's job is to dive and kill enemy carries after which he gets inside the enemy team and deal as much damage to everyone with his AOE kit which is why executioner is tons more useful for Renekton in every phase of the game. It's pointless to waste points just to get an early game mastery on Renekton who already has a very dominant early game. And if you actually checked the mastery tree i put on the OP you'd see that you do not need to waste points on brute force when you can spend points on butcher, double edge sword, and expose weakness which are all better allocations than brute force.

Go to recent games.
Look for Renekton and select Challenger and Diamond.
Check masteries and runes.
Maybe spectate a few games.
See how people that know how to play Renekton go at it.

Did quick check.
+90% use 9/21/0, some 21/9/0. One 12/18/0, but he's lost 6 out of his last 10 Renekton games, so yeah.
Statistics say 9/21/0 is best way to go.

One of the most important part for most champs is the laning phase. As this can make or break games.


That being said, play the champ how you feel is right.
What works for you might work for you at the moment. Just don't hold on to it like it's an absolute truth. You'll need to adapt once you gain divisions/tiers.

If YOU would actually knew how to play Renekton properly you would know many of the top Renekton players are bypassing The Brutalizer and opting for Ravenous Hydra, not even getting Black Cleaver.

Renekton is played as a tanky bruiser, building 3-5 tank items is not uncommon. Randuin's Omen, Sunfire Aegis, and Spirit Visage are all pretty common purchases on him.

Executioner puts you too deep into the offensive tree; besides that it's hardly effective. Your job is to dive the backline not clean up kills and it's only effective when they're below 50% hp. You're not going to get that much use out of it. And Yes, Martial Mastery is worth it. 4 AD at level 1 is pretty huge, it's 4 red marks worth of flat AD. Every point of AD early on is worth it.
