When I bought Shen a long long time ago I didn't know what to build and the recommended told me to build a Trinity Force...so I did. Yeah. Once in a while I see people like me...in one match there was someone stacking Ruby Crystals...
I noticed, at least at my MMR last season (which was mostly mid-upper gold players with plat players here and there), that people don't seem to understand how Orianna works either.
They seem to forget the ball even exists until they get blown up....and even once they start playing more cautiously they're extremely predictable in their movements and don't know how to trade harass without eating free damage.

Fortunately, even the ones who do understand the ball tend not to realise it has a somewhat hefty cooldown until about rank 4. Sure, 5-6 seconds might not sound like much, but it's enough time to trade/harass/last-hit while she's unable to hit you with pretty much anything other than her AAs. Compared to many other mages, who even with their main ability down usually have something up their sleeve for trades, that small window against Orianna is rather abusable.
People are dumb,
Source: i was the first person who said Tear of the Goddess was a bad item on Kha'Zix
Now nobody builds tear on Kha6 because they know its actually a bad item.
I also always said Tear of the Goddess was a bad item on jayce, People flame me for arguing about not buying tear,
COINCIDENCE?

Tear of the Goddess is only a good lane sustain item, it becomes obsolete later honestly just as you say
Basically how I play LoL

So admittedly I'm not a high elo player or anything, and this probably is less and less true as you move up the ladder, but I noticed something lately. I decided I wanted to try out a new champion, something with a high skill ceiling that I can play in normals to just try to improve my mechanics, so I chose Syndra. Now, I always knew what Syndra's skills did on paper, but often when I was against skilled Syndra's I'd just underestimate her range or combo, or just not have a very good grasp on what she was trying to do.
Since I've started playing her, it seems to me that I am not alone in this. Often when playing as Syndra, I find myself wondering "wtf, why is that guy standing behind his creep wave with no hp like he's safe". Q, E, and he's dead. I just think that it is a case of them not really fully understanding the champion, and it's happened to me far more on Syndra than anyone else I've played on. Granted, it's normals, but I am fairly sure my normal MMR is higher than my ranked, because its not uncommon for me to get queued with plats and diamonds here and there.
Anyway, just an interesting thing I noticed. It's a HUGE advantage in lane, when people just grossly underestimate you, and it's a feeling I haven't gotten since I was playing with mostly other new players. Curious if anyone else has felt this way playing Syndra or any other champs.
