"Twitching" as ADC?

So my bro told me the reason why high level ADCs move minimal distances in between attacks is to reset the AA. (They move barely in-between attacks and it looks like their model is "twitching")

I'm confused on this, as I've never seen it before now. Wouldn't continuing after the delay be more beneficial?
If you want to help me, teach me.

there are three stages to the AA: the set up the shot and the Recoil. High level players know that the shot goes off at stage two, so they time their movements to skip the recoil animation in order for it to reset a half second faster than if it went through the animation

I'm not 100% sure exactly what you're describing. Moving around doesn't actually affect your auto cooldown at all.

If you're talking about moving between attacks in general, it's because there's really not much for you to do while your AA is on cooldown and it's a good idea to use that time to reposition yourself. If you don't move manually, your champion will stand completely still while the attack is cooling down which is a total waste of time and may lose you kills/get you killed.

Decent ADC players and above are aware of the exact timing during the animation that their auto is "complete" in terms of damage and will cancel any animations after that to avoid unnecessary downtime. This is how/why you see high level players repeatedly moving small distances while attacking in teamfights to keep kiting without costing them attacks. Anyone can utilize animation cancelling to some degree though, it just gets much more difficult to pull it off consistently when your attack speed is very high and you're under pressure.

If you're talking about the thing people sometimes do where they repeatedly click the same minion/enemy so that only the start of the auto animation plays over and over, they're just doing it because it looks and sounds funny. :P

This is basically correct except that cancelling the recoil has absolutely no effect on the time until your next attack, it just allows you to move during that time instead of standing there like a potato. If you just right click and then do nothing you'll still do the same DPS as someone who's animation cancelling - more DPS in fact if they **** it up and cancel an attack too early. Only Attack Speed and resets like Ricochet or Tumble affect your autoattack cooldown.
