I generally prefer someone more like

On a tankier note,

^ right on.
Lux is fine in low elo. Learn to hit the roots and always shield your carry. Always get
Sightstone no matter what, harass constantly and don't worry if you accidently kill 27 dudes in a game as a support. gj lux op
In all honesty, almost anything works in low elo, so pick whatever you feel like and see how you fare. Just don't go too crazy, leave that for the high elo folks that don't rage (as much) when they see something different.

Don't pick
Nidalee. Congratulations, you are now an advanced support player.
I think the most important decision is if you want to play an all-in, poke or fairly passive support. And please note that supporting usually also involves a lot of coordinating with your team(setting up team-fights, vision, objectives, try to prevent them from raging etc.). Take some time to ping here and there and see if other lanes don't forget to call mias.
While stat-wise not so good at the moment, I think
Taric is easy to pick up and play if you find you're struggling with the other tanky options.

********'s a pretty good fertilizer
I would suggest these champs:
Annie,
Leona,
Thresh,
Morgana,
Karma
Those are the best supports right now.
Taric wouldn't be a bad option, I just don't like playing him personally. As others said, the main thing is don't play
Nidalee support and buy sightstone. I mostly play
Annie,
Thresh, and
Leona. Those 3 are the strongest right now because of their lockdown ability.

I play a Morgana as AP carry mid. How does she differ when played as a support? I should be feeding my ADC CS and kills, Would I just drop a Soil on the minions to help lower them then harass with Snare and AA? BS when I see them try and make a play for lane?

Pretty much. She has become somewhat of a counter to

You want to stick to more conventional supports, being
Lux support is only good if you know how to support as her.
For the current meta, the less passive the support, the better. This makes
Thresh great, and
Soraka unfavorable, for example.
Don't pick
Nidalee
General rule of thumb: Put high priority over
Sightstone before boots. Arguably, the situation may call for something else, but getting your sustainable supply of wards asap is the best way to go.

If you want to help me, teach me.
You heard it here folks! Aggressive Soraka is a thing!
