I was like you earlier. I couldn't be calm the few times I played ranked, and therefore I played bad and lost. I usually use to think it's a normal and then I'm fine
I have the same case. I tend to get really stressed out in champion select, making me do bad decisions and so on. I'll try what everything has told me, probably I'll be fine. Thanks for sharing your experience!

Perhaps play some normal draft so you get the hang of pick & ban phase of ranked games.

I'd go with this ^^

I have a terrible ranking so take this however you like but I always do at least 1 Normal draft to warm up before ranked. Also, don't main support in low ranks lolz. That's how I got low Bronze XD.

Another small bit of advice is like another poster said, think of it as a way to learn to be better. It shouldn't be stressful, just getting better :] Even if you hit low rank where no one does what they should, always look to yourself and see what you can improve and try to do just that. The more games you play the closer you will come to your average skill level.

I've played some, but I might go do more. Not a bad idea actually

It has been said earlier, but it is actually just a game. And if I want to get better at this game, I need to do the more challenging parts. And I bet they're more challenging for my brain then for my skill-level... me just over-thinking everything. Thanks for the advice, I'll keep them in mind :D

When did you guys start spamming ranked? How many wins did you have? Champions? Experience? Is there a goal I should reach before I start?

You should start when you feel like you're prepared. A lot of people will tell you to fill a large list of requirements but as long as you have a concept of how to play all roles, you're good to go in my book. Afterwards, all you have to do is set realistic goals for yourself. If you are struggling at a silver level, don't set goals for yourself to hit platinum and diamond because they aren't going to happen until you get through your current challenges. With the new league system, I encourage you to focus on individual games instead of looking at the climb as a whole. As you hopefully improve as a player and focus on your own mistakes, you will suddenly notice that your ranking is a lot higher. Again, I really want to warn you to not set unrealistic goals because you're only going to be angry/disappointed towards yourself and your teammates. This game is a learning experience and it takes time to grow.

Now about this "Fright of playing ranked games" also known as "ladder anxiety". After playing this game for 3 1/2 years, I still get ladder anxiety. However, I usually get really warmed up after enjoying small things that I enjoy. Couple examples is enjoying a preferred beverage, pulling up a nice playlist, etc. Whatever you can do to relax/get excited and lets you just play like you normally do in lets say a norms or so.

I feel your pain dawg.

If you finish your promos and end up in Silver V I shall call you my double, because what you have said is exactly what happened to me.

But yeah just play whenever you want. I'm attempting to play 1/2 ranked games a weekend, then pick up a lot in summer and just spam ranked once I have more time.

Do do do dee do do do

For Season 4 I've set my goal to at least my last placement (Silver IV). I don't think it'svery unrealistic, it'll depend on how my provisionals will go. Thank you for the informative reply, eapecially about what you call ladder anxiety. Maybe I will wait another season to collect all the champions before I start getting into ranked. It'll take a really long time at least... I'm leaning towards that time is a key to this.
Thanks again! I'll start watching YouTube before games, as this is one of the most relaxing things for me. Hope you get over your anxiety once!

Haha, what a coincidence! I can't wait to summer. Maybe I should have 2 accounts in level 30, making one of them unimportant so I can just queued up to get used to it. Nobody got a spare lvl30 they don't care about, do they? :/

I have one on EUW with which I can duoQ with you if you'd like some coaching or so :p.

Apart from that, you can just play with your main account, and the deeper you fall the harder it will get to reach your goal, but in the end you will have more experience :p.

Also, you should set your goal higher, in Season 3 I set my goal to Diamond, only got from Gold 3 to Platinum 1 89LP tho (stupid clamping qwq).

So at least aim for Gold :p!

Alright thanks! I'll be sure to note you when my exams pass by, maybe we could do some queuing together. Well, I don't know what my goal is, but it should at least be getting party over my axienty. And you're right, I will have experience whenether it goes great or becomes a flop.
