I find this very interesting
I'd be interested in seeing a similar article about Summoner's Rift. I wonder if it's the same there or is it more skill based?
Very interesting read, I doubt SR is the same, but Dominion ugh I only play it to practice skill shots and agree with the better players only having a 50-54% win rate no mater how good you are you can't carry Dominion consistently

I hate to be "that guy", but this article literally makes no sense whatsoever.
Yes, matchmaking is designed in a way that should give players a win rate of roughly 50% (in SR as well as other game modes), but that doesn't mean everything else just becomes random at that point. Your play still heavily influences the outcome of games, as does of course the level of play of all other players involved. If you wanted to prove that winning or losing on Dominion is 100% random, you would've been better off comparing the strategy and depth of the game mode to SR (you stated some things - for example that "You need your teammates to be able to hold their own" - but how is this different on SR?).
Alternatively, you could queue up for dominion 100 times and walk in circles doing absolutely nothing every game and then see if you still win 50% of your games. That'd be somewhat convincing evidence, I suppose.

Well the thing about that is that matchmaking determines when you should win a game based on 5v5 so if you were to troll and walk in circles, than yeah you're going to lose because that game is not what matchmaking intended to happen.
But if you play normally, then matchmaking will "decide" you win around half your games. There's obviously some exceptions which is why some people win 53% and some with 50% but for the most part, no matter how good you do it doesn't turn the tides in Dominion.
Like someone else mentioned in this thread, you just can't consistently carry Dominion. You can only be in one spot on the map so there's only so much one person can do at any given time.
If Dominion games were completely random, your actions would have no influence at all on the outcome. If I run around in circles instead of playing normally, then clearly I am influencing the outcome of the game, right?
That's the point you're making right now, though I guess it isn't the point you wanted to make. If anything, the title of this article should've been "Luck is a factor on Dominion". That's good to know, it's just a shame that the rest of the world knew that already (same goes for other game modes btw).

Heeeeeeeeeeeey, it's this guy again. The writer of such articles like, "Is Thresh OP?" ; "Why Fizz Takes No Skill" and even, "Does Riot Games Support Hacking?" The last one does not exist anymore.
I wouldn't take anything he says seriously. ESPECIALLY about Dominion. Or even anything on Summoner's Rift.
