@ SAO

It reminded me of Angel Beats and Clannad which, until now, have been the two only anime's I've really enjoyed (I'll admit, I'm not that much into anime as most of you probably are).

that's a fair comparison. don't feel bad about liking it. if you liked it you liked it. everyone enjoys things differently. everyone has different tastes. i have a buddy who thinks clannad was the best thing to happen to anime ever. i on the other hand didn't enjoy it. poetry/literature/etc. all in the eyes of the beholder and everyone likes different stuff. which is kind of a cool thing about it. unless you are in a literature class in school..cause than apparently there is only one interpretation. blah.

I did no watch the Anime, but about the manga: It is a bit more interesting as a shounen, as a romcom it fails, tho.

Oh, sorry, I should've checked. Yeah it's that one.

Please, let's not talk about literature class >.>

I just had three of those literature exams, failed all of them
fml :D

But yeah, let's not start talking about that. I tried watching Air since it was made by the same studio that made Clannad if I'm not mistaken. I didn't really enjoy it, the storyline was just quite boring.

Did you watch Sakura Trick? I think it's right up your alley, and I can fanboy all the hell over that show. It's soooooooooo damn cute. And them faces. Them faces.

EDIT: It's from januari, but have you seen Noragami yet? I posted something about it earlier.

I watched Noragami, but I found it kinda' bland. It's too slow to be a good shounen and too focused on being a shounen to be good at anything else. It's not bad, just not good either.

there was some jerking in evangelion.

Sounds like someone watched End of Eva. Heh heh. Heh. (Seriously, though. That was kinda' gross. Oh, Japan.)

Also, Searz, you really ought to watch Eva. It's not about whether or not it's good, it's about the fact that it's more literature than most anime. It's a deconstruction of mecha anime tropes (absentee father, children piloting mechs 'cuz reasons, manic girl and emotionless girl, etc.), and even without being explicitly versed in those tropes (although I think your experience with SNK will draw some easy parallels) it's clear that there's something really interesting going on. It's a major part of anime history, and I don't think it matters whether or not you like it, you should watch it anyway.

A friend of mine likes to call this kind of thing "genre thrills". There's something that each of us really like and can watch/read/play/whatever regardless of whether or not that thing is good, because it's the genre itself that we love. This would be why I watch ****ty romcoms, for instance.

On the subject of Clannad itself, the first season was pretty decent. Honestly, it was good when it was mostly a comedy. When it decided to do other things it kinda' went downhill a bit, but the rest of the first season was still okay. After Story was too tear-jerky for me to really like, even though I watched the whole thing. Also it did some weird things that didn't make any sense, which doesn't help.

More new anime seasons stuff. Is long.

Have you watched Sora no Otoshimono? I'll just call that a guilty pleasure.

Sorry, my bad. I should've checked before opening my mouth. And if the manga's at that part then it's a little behind indeed.

And yes, watching Eva is like watching Bible Black, you don't want to but you will watch it eventually. *thunder* *evil laugh*

EDIT: Finished SAO. It was a good ride, some crazy things too. The last arc definitely was the weakest though in my opinion. Does anyone dare guess what he says at the end of episode 25?

Yeah, I will... eventually.

It's not a high priority :3

I just read through Y - The Last Man, Kick-***, Kick-*** 2 and Hit-Girl. None of them are manga, but I figured that this is as close as we have to a comic thread.

They were all pretty good.

Y is an interesting take on the apocalypse genre that was really great and clever at times, but cliche and plain silly at others.
A lot of parts left me kind of torn on whether I liked them or not. I do feel that the overall story was pretty good though and I'd recommend giving it a read if you're into semi-realistic drama stories.

Kick-***, Kick-*** 2 and Hit-Girl are all part of the same series. I'm not quite sure what genre to classify them as, but shounen wouldn't be too far off.
I love the art and how it plays with stereotypes. There are quite a few unexpected plot-twists and the story cuts out all the unnecessary parts. Sometimes it even feels like too much is cut out, but that might just be a result of it being good and me wanting more of it.
It's a very good series that I'd definitely recommend reading.

I'm thinking about reading Kick-*** 3 soon, but I'd like to wait until it's finished so I can read it in one go, if I have the patience to wait that long.

Well ima add my comments to this season:

Gokukoku no Brynhildr - is made by the same author as Elfenlied. I'm reading the manga, and it really feels lacking. The romance subplot is indeed in there, and it actually developes alot into the later parts.

Black Bullet - I also started to read the manga, but the manga seemed rather boring, as an action anime (which is also labeled as seinen) this might become more interesting.

Kanojo Ga Flag O Oraretara - honestly, I expected worse of this harem, I was about to read the manga several times, but the description and the tags held me off. Interesting to see is that the MC isn't a *** as most of those harem MCs... This might be due to the ******-level of the heroines. (I'm pretty sure it's because of the ******-level of them lol)

Isshuukan Friends - I also almost started to read the manga of this. But in the end it just seemed to go nowhere. Maybe I should learn from this and look over the description of mangas. In the end mangas often develope a more interesting story than the description suggests.

Mangaka-san To Assistant-san - The anime is easier to watch than reading the manga. The manga started as a 4-koma and the commedy wasn't enough to ever make me laugh, rather just smirk.
The anime on the other hand makes it easier to follow the commedy, so whoever wants some romcom slapstick anime, here it is.

Edit:
The first chapter of Fujimi Lovers (Undead Lovers) is out!
The story is really interesting, but we are all still in the dark about the actually plot lol. It is sad, scary and cute at the same time wuhu. Just what I needed ^_^

Edit2:
Finished A****a Dorobou - As a hater of romcom+harem tags, I went into this with mixed feelings. As I began reading, I really liked the devlopement. The harem tag was minimal true (since it was the same girl all the time). And nevertheless, I can sleep in peace now. I finished a manga with an actual satisfying ending:
