I'm just curious as to what non-meta support picks you might like to play (let's say it wasn't a ranked game), along with their effectiveness.

If you want to have fun, play shaco support. Start with red trinket and a pink, put all the boxes you possibly can near the end of the far brush and take complete control over the lane. However, once you lose brush control you're completely ****ed as well.

Lux is another fun unconventional support. You have long range poke with a massive nuke at 6. Pair her with someone like ezreal and have fun at 6. Obvious downsides: lack of mobility, no sustain, little utility.

Optimal rune/mastery setup for Karma, Morgana, Zyra? (maybe Sona?)

Thanks to The_Nameless_Bard for the sig!

Mpen / Hpen reds
Armor + Hp seals (mixed)
Mres glyphs. AP is viable as well but I'd prefer flat mres
HP / Ap quints, up to personal preference. I'd go HP on Zyra/sona for sure because they're just too squishy.

OK, so I have been playing Ashe for a while and I was wondering: How do I aim her ult to make sure that I hit my target? I have tried to unbind the camera and move it to where a champion is but still no hits. Any suggestions would be welcome :)

Depends on what you're going for, if you wanna be the utility tanky AP, I normally run

Armor Reds x9
Armor Yellows x9
MR Blues (Scaling or Norm, your choice) x9
Health Quints x3

and then masteries 0/21/9
Defense:
2 in Block
2 in Recovery
1 in Unyielding
3 in Vet's Scars
1 in Juggernaut
3 in Hardiness
3 in Perseverance
1 in Reinforced Armor
4 in Legendary Guardian
1 in Tenacious

Utility:
1 in Phasewalker
3 in Fleet of Foot
3 in Summoner's Insight
1 in Alchemist
1 in Culinary Master

I'm a support player who really likes to throw himself in the way of abilities for my ADC very early on so we can win trades, I don't feel that early penetration or early AP really make a very large difference early on in bot lane, so I feel that having that insane amount of armor to take shots from the enemy ADC and take hits from the enemy support, allows me to pull off some crazy bait plays and generally get my ADC first blood, or even as much as two kills only using one or both of my summoners to do so.

Try to move yourself into the head of your enemy and know the exact projectile speed. Ask yourself: "Where would I be moving if I were the target" and then try to predict the exact distance he will move during the time the arrow travels, and then aim it at that spot.

It also helps if you aim it in a narrow corridor (like the area around blue) because then he won't be able to sidestep it that easily.

@ Natedog:
0/9/21 is good for a lot of supports, especially someone like karma who already relies a lot on movement speed. Defense is good for supports that go in the middle of the fight like morgana but for supports who stay at range it's a lot of wasted points.

I myself run a 4/5/21 setup on squishy AP supports because it allows you to start with 10% CDR and all the goodies in utility.

Well, from what it sounds you seem like a newer player who uses locked camera alot, I would suggest that you try and start playing without it so you can get used to it when you start to play against more skilled players, it really does help a lot and make a huge difference as you move up, and secondly, in terms of using Global Ultimates, you really have to guess where people are going to try and go based on how their lane is going, or if a gank is happening etc. Just try and line up your shots to where they WILL be, not where they currently are, it's a bit tough , but it's awesome to have that satisfying feeling of an Arrow, or a Mega Death Rocket land and hearing the dying screams of the enemy champions. Keep practicing it :D!

Thresh:

Leona:

Both are in-your-face champions so they benefit heavily from the defensive tree.

Honestly, for all supports it really comes down to playstyle, if you go to the pro scene and look at their runes and masteries, support players have probably the most diverse set of rune pages, and tons of them at that. They even have them labeled for certian champs, because it allows them to find what really works for them and always keep it updated through riot patches and such. So I would say, if you feel like you're dying a ton or being chunked out hard, 0/21/9, otherwise mess around with it. I would also say, understand what lanes you are going to be facing and choose your runes and masteries according to that.
