Loss Prevention for AFKers

I just had a game where there were 2 AFK players on my team. Subsequently we were unable to output the same amount of damage as the opposing team who had 4 damage dealing champions to our 2 (I was playing tank).

5v5 is fair, 4v5 is do-able, but anything less is asking too much. Doubt very much our Challenger Tier Champion would be able to win in the situation described above.

Do you agree with this provision?

You're just salty about the loss.

That idea would mean people could get bullied into AFK'ing to get a loss prevented which is a terrible idea.

I'm talking about people who AFK for the ENTIRE GAME. This is not something where people if their losing tell 2 of their guys to go afk so they can avoid losing IP. This is for people who never turn up at all. I do not see a reason why people should be punished for something they have no control over.

Definitely salty, yes.

Of course it's annoying but there is no good solution for it. Lets assume you want to only give loss forgiven if he afk's all game. Now lets assume you get a DC for the first 10 minutes and your team is losing, if you RC to the game you'll be sure to get flamed as **** just because you RC'd and ****ed their loss forgiven.

You gotta realize that this also happens to your enemies from time to time and that (mathematically speaking) the chance that the enemy has an AFK > the chance you have an AFK as long as you never afk yourself.

This idea has been hanging around for quite some time, but it just isn't waterproof. Like vynnie says, the system can be abused, which is unfair. The best thing you can do right now is just report the guys that were AFK, because if you are right, then the guy gets punished. If you are wrong and you keep being wrong, then you get punished instead. Seems much mroe fair to me :p

I know it sucks, I know that it is very annoying that the absense of people can ruin your games, but so far there just is not a proper way of dealing with AFK's other than just to report them.

We have a QQ thread for venting.

The current system in place is just fine.
any system that detects AFKers and forgives the team for the actions of one man is subject to abuse and Riot doesn't want any of that. That's the way it is and you have to accept that. If it was any different my response would be the same: That's just how it is, so deal with it.

What I would rather have is a 5 minute reduction on the surrender timer for each person who never connected to the game in the first place.
