It destroys all the roleplay elements. Enemies respawning in your face and 23042390482390 people looting the same chest or talking to the same npc just destroys the feel. In short(I've said it a few times by now): compared to a TES game the roleplay sucks. The graphics suck. The gameplay sucks and the environment sucks. Basically it sucks in general IMHO. Well that was my impression of the beta at least. I was done within 2 hours.
I think the local gameplay idea would solve a lot of the problems indeed.

The multiplayer version shoulda just be like TL and classic TTRPG; set up a party, pick specialisation and/or class and go on quests like that. But instead we get the classic MMORPG in the world of TES and then done poorly.
Also, I haven't played any TES games next to Skyrim, but Skyrim fails quite hard in being an RPG. Just saying.

Hmm if you say so.

The things that made Skyrim special were strictly limited to local gameplay (Stealing, killing NPC's, etc)
ESO removed all the fun aspects of Skyrim and basically made a typical MMO in the form of a Bethesda game.
I think local Skyrim gameplay would've been a lot better. (Hosting servers with others being able to join)
