Having succes with it doesn't mean it's good. Judging by competitive standards its mediocre, as stated in my first post. It's just like saying WW is a mediocre jungler, he can work but there are far better picks for any situation.
Any champ TECHNICALLY is viable if you can play it well.

Annie is a **** pick in Soloqueue because, no matter what tier your in, people still don't realize what she does and why she does what she does. That and just building her damage late game means more wowpow for your late. As for a top tier support, I still have to go with
Syndra. She's like, the hidden OP of this game with her moves and what not.
It's mainly because people turn away from the game and leave their keyboards when they get some form of balls shoved into their face. That's not hetero, even if it is coming from a girl (See **** girls).

Syndra is not hidden at all. Everyone know shes good shes just harder to play than other mages why learn her when i can play ziggs and win and stall out games easily with less skill.
Personally I feel it was one of the most stupidest things in League History when people started seriously using Annie as a support - All of that damage potential in the mid lane sacrificed so that you could get to stun opponents in bot lane for an ADC instead -_-
