Hey guyz, im only lvl 20 but ive been playing taric since bout lvl 5.

Ive tried out multiple builds with advice ive read from different sites/forums and I think ive found a good build taht works for me and my playstyle.

So first, my playstyle. Im not the typical tank build with armor/health. I play taric as a support character/harrasser. Throwing my stun out and stuff to initiate ganks or just to keep them on the defensive all the while usually keeping shatter up for the aura and throwing out heals when needed.

From what i understand with this playstyle, im not really looking to boost my survivability outside of a few gimmicks (ghost+radiance+heal while stunning a chaser.) Having said that, I also build my mastery on Utility, pretty typical with ghost and clarity being upgraded. However my first question arises. Should i go into offense for the AP/CD reduction as im thinking or would some survivabilty be better since i do seem to be focus'd down once the other team realizes im the reason my team is always at 80% health or above.

Also, my typical item build order is along these lines as of late. Doran's Ring and health pot -> Chalice of Harmony -> berserker or mercury treads (depending on the other teams build)-> Nashor's tooth -> either Frozen Heart or Soul Shroud. Ive thought bout throwing in Stark's Fervor instead of the FH or SS but by the time i get to them the game is mostly over and I dont have time to finish.

My ability priority is ALWAYS Stun first. Leads to better ganks and better retreats (also i like to play with friends so i can trust/communicate with them so it really helps our gank abilities.) After that I usually pick up my heal, unless were just raping the lane and i still have my pot, then Shatter. Once all 3 are learned, I usually pick up heal then Shatter and level them bout evenly. I pick up my Ult asap of course and maybe another point into dazzle once im lvl 3 on both heal/shatter. I always pop radiace when pushing a turret or goin in for a team fight.

Anyway, I just really wanted opinions on my mastery/item build assuming the playstyle ive used. Not too much of the tank but def more the support/gank initiator/chaser.

Ty ahead of time for your time and help.

Taric is not a tank, this is all so true.
However, if you do get focused you should take advantage of it.

You didn't mention your runes, which is a huuuuuuuuuuuge part of Taric, you wouldn't believe how much boosting your AP helps early on. Mostly because Imbue scales 90%, and Dazzle 100%. You could also boost your Cooldown Reduction or Surivability with it, but that's up to you. When it comes to Masteries I have to say that defense should allow you to get in there and "semi-tank" if anyone wants to take a bite out of you. But for your play-style I guess Utility is more suited if you avoid tanking at all cost, while focusing more on mana and cooldowns. Offense is only useful until you reach the Archaic knowledge, the rest is trash.

Doran's Ring is a great starting item, and Chalice of Harmony will allow you to cast Imbue whenever you need it the most while also giving you some much needed magic resist. However when it comes to the boots I would go Mercury's Treads all the way, I mean what team doesn't have CC? right? The rest of the items are highly optional, why? because it depends on your team, and the enemy team. Now since you wanna be more of the supporter you could always go for good AP stuff afterwards, like Nashor's Tooth, Guinsoo's Rageblade, Sheen, Rod of Ages, Will of the Ancients, and even Mejai's Soulstealer. Just keep in mind you should have more than 2k health, 100+ Armor and 100+ Resistance. Otherwise it's a little easy to kill target in the middle of a fight, but if you are owning it up that should be no problem. How you help your team is up to you, wether it's auras or more frequently and stronger heals.

In the end it's pretty much the same...

Ok tyvm for all the advice. Sorry i forgot my runes. Just from what ive read ive done attack speed, ability power, and cd reduction as my runes. Again, feed back on that choice is lovely ^_^. and ur completely right, mercury treads ftw lol. i only get the berserkers on VERY rare occasions. anyway, ty again for all the help.

I found going all AP if your team is owning it up is extreamly beneficial after Mercury's Treads.
Trust me when the counter K/K is like 15-2, there is nothing stopping you.

Just an example, the Mejai's Soulstealer may be a little over-kill but I have to say you can get alot of assists and very few deaths. Guinsoo's Rageblade is alot of fun when you're taking down turrets, and healing while auto-attacking for cooldown reduction. I recommend getting a Golem Buff and pairing it up with an Elixir of Brilliance, this way you can get 40% CDR without any effort to your item-build. Games like this should end quick, but I still recommend buying wards for map awereness, it's priceless!

On the rune part it's really just:
Quintessence: flat AP, flat HP, CDR per lvl
Glyphs: AP per lvl, flat CDR, MR per lvl
Seals: Mp/5 per lvl, AP per lvl, Dodge
Marks: Attackspeed, Magic Penetration.

Those are the few I consider useful to Taric.

Off-topic, but FYI you can now insert icons with tooltip and such using a handy little tag, like this (replace round brackets with square brackets):

= (icon=Doran's Ring size=64)

Or like this:

Doran's Ring = ((Doran's Ring))

Sorry to interrupt, carry on :)

DPS Taric, Zeal, Boots to flavor, Infinity Edge, finish phant dancer, Starks, Exec calling, turn on ult for a 30/60/90 damage boost, you will notice the items I loaded up on favor attack speed and crit chance as you have damage pretty much covered between the infinity edge and your ult. Its quite easy if your laneing partner is any good to get early ganks as you have an amazing stun, you should be able to feed yourself quite well. Between starks and popping your w you should have no trouble with armored opponents. Also as long as you are hitting something even with no real mana items you can keep your ult up for about 20 seconds or so, then turn it off pop a clairy and its ready to go again in like 10 seconds.

It plays similarly to a AD Sion, Early to mid game your regen from your Ult will allow you to heal through a ton of shiz, lategame you should supplement it with life leach and some more protectiom items.

Last time I played this build I went 32/4/15 or some such.

Railen, you should make builds for your taric. I wouldn't mind playing dps Taric.
