I am very happy to see a lot of MegaMan Fans here I use to play MegaMan Battle Network 1 and 2 for days. I have never played the StarForce games though I watched the StarForce Anime that one time they aired it on Cartoon-network they left on a cliffhanger but the series never took off on Cartoon-network

man i remember seeing that i was always hoping they would finish the gemini fight

i think the problem was that they put too much in the pilot instead of spacing things out enough

I'm allowed to like different things than you and not be told I'm stupid because you personally dislike them. The topic of this thread is innately subjective, if you want an objective discussion start one yourself.

Well, most things regarding experience (of media) is innately subjective. I just thought that this thread would be less so.
Apparently not.
And I feel kind of stupid for not realizing earlier than I did.

And thank you for taking what I said out of context.

I didn't, those were simply the most relevant parts to my response. If my perceived conclusion wasn't the one you intended you need but answer the question raised in that comment.

But hey, let's start a discussion about table-top games and we'll see if you like any systems I can pick apart for the fun of it. :P

Erm.. I have played like.. one of those? For like an hour total? When I was 8? I know next to nothing about them aside from general knowledge. I'm afraid such a discussion with me would be mostly fruitless until I play some myself (which I won't).

I only really liked Megaman X. I didn't like the originals or any other series of megaman. Megaman Legends (Or 64) was ok, but it was still not the same for me. :/

The originals really don't hold up. They were built for severe hardware limitations and really suffer because of that. Most games from that era no longer hold up well. The same can be said for quite a few N64 games too (*cough*including Mario Kart*cough*).

Did you try X4? It's easily the best of the bunch I've tried (MMX1-5 and original, only finished 4 tho). The only thing the game does poorly is the story, but it can safely be skipped unless you enjoy cringing.
Give it a look, there's a 13MB version on TPB without music and videos and a 300MB version with them(you can't buy the game anymore anyway).
"Blizzard spoke thus; Thou shalt not BM. And the players replied Nay, I shall Play my hand with Lethal already on the board. And so Blizzard sent unto them this Brawl of Yogg, As a lesson for their sins of Pride and Greed, for he is the Prophet of Madness and RNG. On that day, the tavern descended into an era of chaos and darkness, until the weekend passed and everyone forgot all about it. Amen. Book of SMOrc, Verse 20, Chapter 4." - Feam T

Hey, woah. That sounds like an opinion. You're not allowed to have those here.

List or GTFO.

Not sure if you're referring to the MMX4 part or the not-holding-up part.
I'd argue that the older Megaman games objectively cannot compare to the "newer" ones.

X4 being the best however is definitely an opinion, but I am of that opinion only because of an objective evaluation after having tried most of them. So there's still a degree of objectivity involved, which is more than I believe nostalgia-fueled fans can say :P

Regarding the list, sure, I'll post one tomorrow. I've been thinking about it anyways.
And this will be a proper list, to my high standards.

I've only played the first Megaman X. And yea, I get how you're going about these games. I didn't list why I enjoyed every game on my list. Lemme just say that a vast majority of them (the SNES or N64 games) were among the first games I ever played. I had no concept of a good or bad game then. All I know was that I enjoyed them, they meant a lot to me. I wish I was still that kid with wide eyed excitement the first time he played Yoshi's Island.

Sorry, bit off track. Just saying, I get were your coming from, but I'm explaining where most of us are coming from. :p

yeah that's about it LOL kind of contemplating whether to play the fate/stay night series

Shin Megami Tensei (AKA "**** that's got me tense today") IV for the 3DS was the best Pokemon game I ever played. No joke.

That list is pretty short, though. I assume you have a DS, at least, and probably a PC, but do you have any other consoles/systems? And is your PC relatively recent or a toaster?

For the DS, you could give Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Summoner or Shin Megami Tensei: Strange Journey a shot. Both are Pokemon-esque, in that you collect demons (AKA "pokemans") and use them to fight other demons. However, you have to talk to them and deal with bizarre fairy logic to successfully recruit demons, which ends up being a lot of the draw of the Shin Megami Tensei series. Also look at any DS games that people have put on their lists in this thread, I haven't seen one that I wouldn't recommend here.

For a toaster-PC, go for things that are pretty cheap. Waiting until the Steam winter sale is probably a good idea. Good games that should be pretty easy on your system include: Torchlight, which is a Diablo 2-style action RPG; Analogue: A Hate Story, which is a very good visual novel; Legend of Grimrock, an old-school style party-based dungeon crawler full of puzzles (and whose sequel just came out); Killing Floor, the premier wave-based multiplayer zombie shooter; plus the good Valve standbys of Portal and Half-life 2. All should go on sale for super cheap during the winter sale, so pick them up if any of them look interesting. (Actually, pick up Analogue anyway. It's full of feels.) Plus any of the cheap and oft-recommended indie games, like FTL, The Binding of Isaac, Bastion, etc. And Just Cause 2, 'cuz that game is just silly cheap when it goes on sale.

If your PC is less-toaster-y, newer options are also available. Borderlands 2's Game of the Year Edition would be a good pickup to see if you're fond of shooting-people-with-guns video games, since it's cooperative and should go on sale for pretty cheap. Torchlight 2 has higher requirements than it's predecessor, but it's also a better game with more mature mechanics and will be cheap during the sale. And, more generally, anything that you think looks interesting, is cheap, and has decent user reviews.

If you have chance try out megaman starforce. It has the battle system like megaman battle network but expands it further, the story is also pretty good along with the soundtrack
