Mid lane (and solo top lane as well) are generally designated for your carries. Because of the speed at which they level, I'm not sure why you'd want to put Nunu in a mid lane when his usefulness actually declines comparatively at higher levels compared to a standard mid carry. The only thing he'd be useful for is zoning and pushing the enemy mid carry, but he can do that just as well, if not better when he jungles.

This is a nice Nunu build, it really exposes how good of a mid champ he is.
