Am I the only one who thinks that's a legitimate problem? Sure, not 2.2 points but there was definitely way too much water in the originals (I haven't played the new ones yet).
i think all the region are based off of real places. Hoenn just happened to be based off a place that had a decent amount of water. I don't think it was a bad thing, i personally liked hoenn the most although mainly because it's the generation when i really got into the game, my first game was leafgreen which yes was kanto but it was part of gen 3 and i did get emerald not long after which i really enjoyed.
