So uh, Verizon now no longer offers a basic cellphone plan without a data plan attached to it.
So if I upgrade my phone I pay nearly three times as much for a dumbphone and more than four times as much for a smartphone.
Maybe if I'm lucky there'll be better coverage from other providers in Fargo and they won't gouge the **** out of me.

O.O
Omg, telecommunications in the US have just gone to **** completely.
But isn't it possible to keep your old subscription plan without data? If so just buy a phone separately or use that Blackberry.
How did it go with the Blackberry btw?

and I don't have the blackberry atm, my friend is not entirely sure he actually kept it despite offering -.-
I guess I'm getting straight talk or a trackphone or something once I've settled in after moving. This is some ********.

Huh? Why?

****'s too expensive and if Fargo's anything like the rest of the great plains part of the US you have Verizon or you have **** coverage...or you get a trackphone/straight talk and it just borrows towers from other providers anyways.
Oh, I had no idea what a straight talk/trackphone was (isn't it tracphone? I googled for it).
But wait, can't you just use the same SIM that is in a tracphone and put it in your own phone of choice?
It'd make no sense for it to be locked down by phone type. (outside of supported frequencies ofc, but most phones today support a wide array of frequencies, allowing contact with many different cell towers)
Also, isn't it basically just a pre-paid SIM? I've been using pre-paid SIM for ages since I don't call much. It's much cheaper than a plan.

That's what I meant, yea (I'm sick and super tired, so not thinking too clearly x.x)...and obviously my current phone needs to be replaced as well.
ugh. for now I don't have much choice, I'll have to wait until I get there and get a job and **** before I change anything.
