[10.2] Sona Support / Tank

Pros and Cons

Pros:


🔵Quite easy to play and most of her skills are undodgeable
🔵Can heal/shield all nearby allies
🔵AOE damage and CC
🔵Increases the movement speed of your teammates

Cons


🔴Low mobility due to lack of any dashes in her kit
🔴Pretty mana dependent
🔴Quite easy to lane against

Passive
AURA: Sona's basic abilities each generate a unique aura for 3 seconds that empowers her and all allied champions who enter its radius, also incurring a 0.5 seconds period during which she cannot cast her other basic abilities.
POWER CHORD: After casting 3 basic abilities, Sona's next basic attack deals 20 − 240 (based on level) (+ 20% AP) bonus magic damage, with an additional effect depending on the last basic ability cast:

Hymn of Valor:Power Chord deals 28 − 336 (based on level) (+ 28% AP) total magic damage
Aria of Perseverance: Power Chord reduces its target's size and damage output by 25% (+ 4% per 100 AP) for 3 seconds.
Song of Celerity: Power Chord slows its target by 40% (+ 4% per 100 AP) for 2 seconds

Power Chord resets Sona's basic attack timer.

Hymn of valor

ACTIVE: Sona sends out two bolts of sound that deal magic damage to the nearest enemies, prioritizing champions
AURA: Sona and tagged allied champions deal bonus magic damage on their next basic attack within 3 seconds

Aria of perseverance

ACTIVE: Sona heals herself and the most wounded nearby allied champion
AURA: Sona and tagged allied champions receive a shield lasting up to 1.5 seconds.

Song of celerity

ACTIVE: Sona gains bonus movement speed for 3 seconds, extended to up to 7 seconds if she doesn't take damage.
AURA: Tagged allied champions gain bonus movement speed for 3 seconds

Crescendo

ACTIVE: After a 0.2-second delay, Sona plays an irresistible chord in the target direction, dealing magic damage to all enemy champions struck and stunning them for 1.5 seconds.
PASSIVE: Reduces the base cooldown of Sona's basic abilities.

Every champion needs a flash , especially low mobility champions like Sona

Exhaust

Use Vs tankier champions in order to escape or just catch up and kill them

Ignite

Vs squishier champion or big healers like Soraka as ignite reduces incoming healing (instead of exhaust)

Summon Aery

This rune provides you with extra poke and also shields your allies for more when you heal/shield them

Manaflow Band

Sona is very mana dependent so this rune should really make a difference

Transcendence

Spam is Sona's second name , so the CDR this rune provides is going to be delightful

Gathering Storm

This rune gives you a decent AP boost in the early game which scales into a massive one in the mid/late game



Secondary path ( Resolve)




Revitalize

Gives a nice boost on your heals/shields which is doubled on low health targets

Conditioning

The extra armor/MR boost will increase your tanking capabilities

Starter Items:
Relic Shield - You should start with this support item because it provides the most HP and you can also heal yourself and the ADC.
Health Potion - Get 2 of these so you can heal up if you take too much damage.

First Back:
Crystalline Bracer- This item gives you bonus HP and you also need it to make your Redemption
Faerie Charm - It gives you mana regen and you also need it for your Redemption
Boots of Speed- Sona doesn't have feet and she flies, but anyways you need to be faster
Control Ward - A good support should always ward to be able to react to incoming attacks from the enemy jungler

Full build Vs AD:
Bulwark of the Mountain- Once you complete your gold quest it will give you a lot of bonus HP ,AP and bonus gold
Ninja Tabi- You need those shoes Vs heavy AD teams because they give you a passive that reduces incoming auto attack damage
Redemption- A crucial support item that is very useful in teamfights because it heals all allies and damages all enemies in a large area
Frozen Heart- Provides massive amount of armor and a lot mana. Also the passive reduces the attack speed of those who attack you by 15%
Abyssal Mask- Provides Health , Mana , Magic resist and CDR , and an aura that makes all the enemies take 15% increased magical damage
Warmog's Armor - By the late game you should have passed 3000 HP so in addition to the massive HP boost it will also give you a huge HP regeneration while out of combat
Elixir of Iron- When you have completed your build you can also buy this elixir which will boost your HP and tenacity for 3 minutes, while also leaving a trail behind you that boosts your allies' movement speed

Full build Vs AP:

Mercury's Treads - It provides tenacity and MR in addition to the movement speed
Redemption -A crucial support item that is very useful in teamfights because it heals all allies and damages all enemies in a large area
Zeke's Convergence - Gives you mana as well as MR , CDR and a lot of armor
Abyssal Mask- Provides Health , Mana , Magic resist and CDR , and an aura that makes all the enemies take 15% increased magical damage
Warmog's Armor - By the late game you should have passed 3000 HP so in addition to the massive HP boost it will also give you a huge HP regeneration while out of combat
