Great, great guide! I really enjoyed reading it and you explain everything very clearly. I especially like the turret placement part, the triangle + ward is GREAT for mid. I used to 'wall' the middle of mid, but this look very neat indeed :D
Now, onto serious matter; the items. With his turrets, I am very unclear whether Magic Penetration actually applies to his turrets. If not, I would say the Ionian Boots of Lucidity would be a great substitute. Maybe they are even better regardless, since Heimer's abilities have a pretty big cooldown, right?
What are your thoughts on the Morellonomicon? It is the full package for Heimerdinger: +75 AP; 12 mana/5 sec; 20% CDR AND your turrets will inflict Grievous Wounds to enemies below 40%!
My personal build goes like this
Doran's Ring + ward > Boots > Morellonomicon > Ionian Boots of Lucidity > Zhonya's > Banner of F*CKING Command > Deathcap > Deathfire Grasp (or situational item).
I am not entirely sure if this is the best order, tho. I might swap Banner with either Deathcap or DFG. What are you thoughts?

EDIT: I just played my best heimerdinger game EVER: 19/0/9. I am not kidding:
This was my order: Doran's ring > morello > ionian boots of ludicidy > zhonya's hourglass > DFG > banner
And i was building towards the deathcap. It worked perfectly. The CDR made my ult's cooldown 42 seconds. It is almost poetic
I wouldn't go Ionian Boots of Lucidity over Sorcerer's Shoes because even though you get that CDR, the magic penetration is much better. Morellonomicon is a great item on Heimerdinger but I don't really have much use for it. The mana regen isn't needed because Heimer has no mana problems if used correctly, however, if you think the grevious wounds would help, then by all means go for it. But yeah, that build seems good.
And replying to swapping item orders, you should build them in the order that fits with the enemy team and your team.
