Because he is not a champ you pick on mid because you wanna win your lane, you pick him so no one loses mid. You wont be playing to get fed and fight, you are playing for safer farm than you got on top, and objectives, you are not a lone wolf like in top, you are the man who will prevent the enemy mid from going 10-1-2, because you are more durable than most mids, you can prevent ganks with your W, you can bait ganks and then run to tower, and if the enemy jg tries to dive, your W is the best stun in the game to get the tower kill... aside of malzahar R of course.

Your ghouls can farm for you, and a much tighter lane means the enemy have it harder to hit them, so some times you may even ruin a last hit on a minion, and we all know how fun it is to take a cannon from someone.

Yorick mid is a fun pick, its not meta, its not even actually good, its something you pick because yorick is barely played even in low elo, lets not talk about high elo, its pretty easy that your enemy laner doesnt know what the **** you do, and they will surely not know the matchup at early levels, so, this needs time to learn, patience... and farm, you WILL need to farm.

Yorick is the best split pusher in the game, not the fastest tower breaker but the only one who can push two lanes at the same time, that, and his insane versatility, makes him a safe blind pick when compared to others, yeah, most matchups are bad, but he is not made of paper, he has enough hp, enough sustain, and enough scaling, to be useful in any kind of comp, against any kind of champion, and even if he is behind, he can take advantage of a team fight to break a lane faster than the enemy may think, you cant build yorick bad because his kit use anything you can get from items.

Either he is a Tank, an Anti Tank, a Brawler, a Burst fighter... you can adjust him to any team and make him useful thanks to the armor reduction+slow of his E, the trapping of his W, and continuous damage dealing of his ghouls.

Why do you think this is gonna be actually good? Im a bronce 4/3 player who is been playing for just three months, I have a good winrate with yorick mid... against irons and bronce, and a few silver+ I find from time to time, you cant pick this guide and think "Yeah Im gonna challenger this ****", but you can absolutely have fun trying yorick mid, and this guide is by far the most detailed, silliest yorick mid guide there is, I have over 50 hours of playing him mid, and more than 300 playing him, I can, atleast, ensure that the builds are good, and that some tips I give are accurate.
