IE makes sense if you want to benefit from your previous items.
Why not Avarice and Ghostblade? You should have read the chapter where I explained why. You have nearly the same cost as for phantom and only half the crit chance (plus only a unique active which improves your atk speed for 4 seconds), compared to phantom it just makes no sense to waste your money. Also, your cooldowns are not that long in mid-late game and it should be prossible to know when to you use your abilities. Armor penetration is provided by runes.

@GoMage: Why not the lantern? I explained the benefits and I think it suits GP quite well.

Rushing IE before any other item is ******ed... I'm sorry but I have no tolerance for it. It's just too hard to build, and for so long you're sitting with no items. Just build a Phantom Dancer. Way easier, and critplank builds it from the very start.

Hello, It's good that you create a guide, but imo you should not get Lantern and get IE faster in your build, and why would Avarice Blade be bad? It gives the extra crit you need and you can upgrade it to a Ghostblade a very good item.

It's not how I build him, but it looks very solid. +1
