This guide was made a while ago, I've kinda changed the way I play Kennen and I understand what you're saying.
I can see your logic in Lich Bane, but by late game Kennen's damage will probably start to wain. I kinda think his role switches more as a support when many heroes are complete. A Will of the Ancients or Hextech revolver for the spell vamps works well. But I guess if you're gonna carry then Lichbane is quite a good choice.
