Ahri needs her charm to get you but you must stay behind minions but that doesnt save you from all other her spells, try to avoid getting charmed while ulting.
Akali
Malzahar is very strong against Akali because he has spells that can damage her while she is invisible + she has nothing to interrupt his ult.
Annie
You will have huge advantage with Malzahar because you will have huge spell range but she can harm you well, try to silence her before ulting so she cant interrupt your ult.
Brand
Malzahar is strong against Brand because of his silence but Brand can easily harm you if you dont move around, try to avoid his spells and fight with him solo because his ult does enormous damage on multiple targets.
Diana
Diana must come to Malzahar if she wants to deal damage cuz of her basic attack which isnt smart vs Malzahar because he can kill anyone instantly. Beware of her spells.
Fizz
Even tho Fizz is melee, Malza cant easily dodge his ultimate, but go aggressive on him early because he cant harm you before getting close to you.
Gragas
Malzahar cant play against Gragas even under turret because he lacks mobility, Gragas will deal huge damage to you and escape easily, try to play safe and wait for jungler.
Fiddlesticks
Malzahar goes well against Fiddle because he can silence him and outdamage him easily. Try to save your silence for his Drain.
Heimerdinger
Very hard because you need to put your E and ultimate on him and those spells are low range, he will outdamage you with his turrets, try to stay at distance.
Karma
I had hard time with Karma cuz of her low cd spells and ultimate damage, but you can win lane easily by staying behind minions and throw your spells on her, watch out for mana!
Karthus
Playing against Karthus is easy because you have long range Q and W, when u get to him with your ult you will kill him instantly.
Kassadin
Playing against Kassadin novadays is VERY easy with Malzahar because Kassadin has no silence anymore on his Q + he is melee which goes well with Malzahar. Try not to let him roam because he can easily get kills with his mobility.
Kayle
Kayle would be easily to counter if u go aggressive on her before her 6 lvl because when she gets her ult you cant really do anything, try to silence her before going aggressive on her after 6lvl.
LeBlanc
Le Blanc is no more strong against Malzahar due to her silence removal, but she can still hurt you with her combos, stay behind minions and try to poke her with your Q.
Kennen
Playing vs Kennen is little harder cuz of his mobility but he cant hurt you if he doesnt get close enough which will suit you well.
Katarina
Kata is melee champ which means she will get buried by Malza, but u have to be carefull because she has no cost on her q and she can lower your hp really quick. Save your ult and Q for her and dont let her roam.
Lux
Someone may say that Lux is counter to Malzahar which i dont believe is true because she needs stun to interrupt Malzahar's ult which she does not have, try to poke her and silence before engaging.
Malzahar
I will put intstructions if you get along Malza mid on normals, remember his spells because he will try to poke you, when he uses his q and misses, go on him and try to get few spells on him, wait for jungler.
Ziggs
Try to avoid his q which is pretty hard due to Malza's lack of mobility, deny blue buff and ambush him while he roams.
Morgana
Very hard, try to care and def, dont go on her or ult here because it wont work with her E, she can interrupt your ult if she ults too, try to get blue buff and def.
Orianna
She cant interrupt your ult if her ball is on her and she is away from reach, try to avoid ulting her while being in her ult radius, poke her and outdamage easily.
Swain
Playing against swain is easy, interrupt his farm and poke him, care for his high damage.
Ryze
Ryze is low range spell champion and Malza has some good range spells which goes well against Ryze, he can interrupt your ult but he is very strong.
Talon
Talon can silence you but if he starts to chase you and if you think he will silence you that moment, then you put your Q on yourself to silence him too, try to ult him before he does, buy pink ward.
Twisted Fate
Tf needs to get close to you which he cant and avoiding his Q is easy even with low mobility champs, poke and deny blue buff, silence him while he ults.
Syndra
Syndra can outdamage you if you dont play safe because he is high damage champ, deny blue buff and poke if possible, def under turret.
Veigar
Its very hard to play against Veigar if you are AP champ because of his ult scaling on enemy's ammount of Ap, he can stun you, play safe and poke if possible.
Vel'Koz
Equal game, try to avoid his E because he can easily interrupt your ulty if he throws it at you in right time.
Xerath
Hard game due to Xerath's range spells and damage, play safe and try to poke.
Nidalee
Nidalee cant play vs Malza because she needs open area for her q and that is hard for her if you get behind minions, but even in you get away, try to stay behind your minion (passive) which can save you many times from her Q, try to poke her and outfarm.

I've been playing Malzahar for quite a long time and i main him, he is also my fav champ.
I dare to say that Malzahar is one of best mid champions.

Playing Malzahar is not so easy but its easy when u get it.
When u get ur ult u would be very happy to catch your enemy with your ult but for bigger damage try to put your W under him and then ult, when ult ends simply put your E on him and he should be dead, if he is not dead try to kill him with ur Q if u havent used it yet.

Deals lots of damage, every spell has its advantage.
Mana regeneration on E
Very good CC
Very strong late game
Easy to farm
Cons:
Slow, easy to gank.
Ult easily interrupted
Counters
Counters
If champion counters you, try to poke if possible, dont risk much and wait for jungler, def under turret and take as much minions as you can.
