Introooo... *drumroll*
I mainly go with the saplings first. It's pretty much the main jungling skill Maokai has. After getting your cloth armous and potions, head straight for blue (or red if you really must) then spam your saplings in the blue area still they spawn. In the end you should have three saplings (saplings die after 30 seconds or so) and possibly your stacked healing attack (after 5 fives spells used near maokai, he gains however much hp). Just continue to fight and use your potions as needed, and soon you'll have blue. At this point in time, you may continue jungling for cash and exp, or you may attempt to gank, which is highly possible. Your choice. Just play defensively, and finish off low hp enemies with your saplings by throwing them behind them, if you're lucky they'll chase em down and kill them.
This is just the basic set I got with. I usually like to get the Guardian Angel first, that way it makes ganking somewhat easier, considering you can just brutally beat the gankee to death without fear of lending them a kill. The boots after because mid game, it's annoying when everyone is faster than you, and it makes Maokai's W harder to use, considering you need to be within range. Sometimes I'll switch the Merc Treads for the Boots of Swiftness so I have more speed to get away and catch up, not always the best, but it's fun to experiment sometimes. After boots and angel I usually pick between Banshee's Veil or the Rod of Ages. I tend to go toward the defensive side of Banshee more often, especially when playing against Karthus; it tends to stop his ult on you completely. Rod of Ages is mainly just so you can have a a chance at kills, but a good defence can get you kills anyhow. The Sunfire is just to increase defence, but can work well with Thornmail and Maokai's ult too. While you're in the battle (mostly the team battles) you can ult in the area of play and then just spam with Maokai's Q and E. Before the majority of the enemy team escapes, release your Ult. And blammo, potential multi-kills. The main idea with Maokai is to help your team win fights, not to take things solo or get kills. But if you work well enough you can snag a good couple of kills, and all works out.
