Hello! My name is Twistedd9. This is my first ever build i have done, so please go easy on me. This build will cover Maokai soloing top. Please comment and add suggestions so i can improve on my builds.

Pros

- Great poking damage
- Able to sustain in battle long
- Perfect bind when your teammate is ganking
- High amount of health / Can take damage

Cons

- Really slow!
- No natural get away ability
- Not for everyone

I choose Teleport for my first spell, because when you are soloing top i find it important to get back to your lane quickly.
My second spell is Flash, which just seems like a must have for almost all champions. Especially for Maokai as it may be your only get away ability that you have.

Start: - Doran’s Ring: Because my mastery page is set to defence so we need some ability power to do ridiculous poke damage. The health can help and the mana regeneration will help, so you can stay in battle longer and you don’t need health regen if you are careful enough not to take so much damage.
Early Game: - My first early game item is Boots of Speed, because personally the only thing I don’t like about Maokai; is that he is slow..! After that I personally like to get Philosophers Stone and lead that into Eleisa's Miracle, because getting this will allow you to stay in battle longer and so you don't have to get Mercury Treads, so you can lead it into something else. But I lead my Boots of Speed into Ionian Boots of Lucidity. After that I get a Catalyst the Protector to build up my mana and health and then eventually leading into a Rod of Ages.
Mid Game: - Now I save up to buy a Frozen Heart for the mana because this will help you so you don’t run out of mana as quick and so you can stay in battle longer. It is also really helpful because you get +20% Cooldown Reduction, and slow opponents attack speed which is good, because that can really piss me off! And oh yeah, a pretty decent amount of amour. After that I buy a Warmog's Armor, so that your health can match your mana and getting that health regen will help you a lot.
Late Game: - I get a Rylai’s Crystal Scepter to increase my health and increase my ability power too, so I can deal damage while still taking pretty heavy amounts of damage. Then to finish her off I get a Force of Nature to keep my health relatively high and to match my magic resistance with my amour and so I can FINALLY get my speed up!! But to do this I usually sell my Eleisa's Miracle.

I build my mastery page 21 defense and 9 utility. I like the defense because it lets you stay in battle for a sustained period of time. I put up Expanded Mind and Meditation, because you are going to be tossing out your Sapling Toss a lot!

I currently don't have selected runes right now, so use whatever you feel the need to use.
