Also lifesteal could help him a lot It would give him great sustain in lane. And nami synergizes with naut becaus they both are from the ocean. coincidence? I think not.
What better item for AS/Hybrid bot carry Nautilus than a Hextech Gunblade? It benefits both his spells and his physical damage. It's a great item and that's why it's listed as an alternate item =p

Interesting concept. I would suggest doing this top lane though to reduce the risk of ranged champs.
The thing about top lane Nautilus is that, in most cases, you'd be playing him solotop without the help of a support while also filling the role of the team's tank. If you were to play Nautilus top lane, it'd be best to just play him in his traditional AP tank manner, similar to that of someone like Singed. Although, as you did mention, it is more of a risk because there are ranged champions in bot-lane more often than not. The key to keeping that risk as low as you can, is playing with a good support. I haven't tested them all, but personally, I've noticed that Lulu and Nami have quite amazing synergy with this specific Nautilus build. Perhaps it's because both of those champions have early game poke to counter-balance Nautilus's mainly melee abilities. Soraka and Taric also work well, but they somewhat lack the poke that the other two can provide. While you can feel free to try this build in top lane, I have a slightly foreboding feeling that it would end in accidental feeding without the help from a support, because of how massively squishy Nautilus is before you get him health items. Thank you though for taking the time to comment and give me feedback ^_^ Sorry about the wall of text, it seems I got a bit long-winded about support champs.
