Introduction
Use AD Mark runes, armor and magic resistance for seal and glyph. The attack damage is a great bonus to kill people and the armor and magic resistance are defensive runes which are really needed to play Riven. The quintessences you should use are either armor penetration runes or movement speed. The armor penetration are used to kill big fat people like Darius, and movement speed runes can be used to chase people down and just run away faster.
I play Riven based on attack damage and tankiness items.
You will need to start off with a Doran's Blade to add AD early game and get the early first kill.
As soon as you farm a lot, a B.F. sword is a good choice to get if you're confident enough to kill other champions, and also the B.F. sword is good for ganking other lanes.
Get Ninja Tabis or Mercury Treads, depending on the enemy team, and finally buy an early Bloodthirster.
In order to be more tanky, buy the Frozen Mallet and it'll be useful in team fights. More health means the enemies kill you slower and adds more sustain to Riven.
Buy a Last Whisper if the enemy team has atleast over 120+ armor. It'll be a useful item if you get caught 1v1'ing someone and want to demolish them.
The Atma's Impaler is your 2nd last item that you want to buy. With the Frozen Mallet, you will get attack damage based on how much health you have. Also, it adds armor and critical strike, which is great for being the offtank in team fights.
Lastly, you have the choice of buying a Guardian Angel, or a Maw of Malmortius. The Maw of Malmortius will help you against AP enemies. Also, it's a great item because it gives 55 ad and 36 magic resist. The Guardian Angel is a useful item if you are carrying your team. If the enemy team focuses you first like dumb people, then your Guardian Angel will go off and they will be confused and gives your team more time to kill them.
