Pros

Sona will be fast, REALLY fast, try to make use of the boots of mobility (captain) so if you're chasing someone with your partner, you'll get to him in no time, same to escape!

Cons

Sona, as well as Janna, Nami, etc. is a 90% useless if she's alone, it's hard to farm, hard to win a 1v1 fight, lots of stuff, farming will be a pain, but since that's not what you're supposed to do, you should be fine.

Passive

The passive activates itself after you use three spells, but it changes depending on which spell you use after getting it. If you use it with the song of celerity (E), you'll make the enemy slower, and it may come in handy if you're chasing someone.
