Introduction

Hello everyone and welcome to my Akali guide. This entire guide focuses on Akali's amazing mobility and how she can manipulate the map to her advantage. Let's begin...

Runes

This build focuses much more on Akali's ability power than her attack damage. The Marks give you early AD and, combined with your masteries, bring you to 10 AD, activating your spell vamp passive. The 2 magic penetration should bring your opponents magic resistance down to 0 early game.

The Seals of vitality give you an extra helpful amount of health, which will protect you in case your opponent decides to fight back.

The flat AP Glyphs, also for early game dominance, using Mark of the Assassin to harass your opponents until you reach level 6, where you will truly be able to dominate anywhere you go.

The Quints of Potency bring you over 20 AP, activating your melee magic passive.

Masteries

The masteries are quite simple, focusing mainly on attack, giving Akali all the balance she needs. Crtitical strike is not at all important, so I took as little as I could.

Items

This is important, so listen up.

Becasue of your runes, you don't need any AP for now. I buy boots to make it easier to land basic attacks after throwing Mark of the Assassin. The potions are for durability.

Next is Hextech Revolver, which gives you more ability power and spell vamp (all the spell vamp you need for now). Great item for Akali

You should be level six by now, so finish your boots and get swiftness. Akali is an assassin, which means she focuses on 1v1 combat. When your chasing down that one opponent who is just too fed, you need all the speed you can get.

Rylai's Crystal Scepter is a gift from heaven. Whenever you use an ability on your opponent, they will be slowed. Throw Mark of the Assassin, which slows them and makes it much easier to land a basic attack. It also provides health and AP.

Lich Bane basically doubles the amount of damage you do when landing a basic attack after using Mark of the Assassin.

By now your opponents should have learned to fear you, and have probably bought magic resistance items. Void staff will be a slap in the face to them, great for late game.

If you still haven't won, you will be having lots of team fights by now. Not only does Will of the Ancients give you more AP and spell vamp, it gives it to your teammates as well. If they do not already see you as a god of LOL, they will now.

Finally, with all that AP you have, Rabadon's Deathcap will give you an amazing extra amount of AP.

Why not Hextch Gunblade?

I personally do not like this item. The main reason for this is because of its active ability. It's only good when a player can constantly remember to use it, which I notice not many do. It doesn't have enough AP and has too much AD for my liking. If you think you can always remember to use it, then go head and replace Will of the Ancients with it. If you do not have an abnormal memory, stick to this build.

Skill Sequence

This is pretty simple. Mark of the assassin is your main damage, so level it up whenever you can (expect at levels 6, 11 and 16, of course). Twilight shroud needs to be chosen at level 2, but after that leave it at one and level up your Crescent Slash.

Now let me show you how to actually play Akali.

Your entire damage is based on Mark of the Assassin. After throwing it, you must basic attack them, it is vital. That's what Shadow Dance is for. Twilight shroud will hide you, but don't forget, it can also be used as a tool of offence, slowing them, thus making it easier to catch them to land that basic attack. Crescent slash is mostly for farming, but its also great for close range damage. Repeat this process and you WILL be victorious.

Summoner Spells

These are the only two useful summoner spells for Akali. Ignite is to dish out that last bit of damage needed if you have run out of Shadow Dances, and Flash is a great way to fool your opponents when hiding in Twilight Shroud.

Unique Skills

Akali is more than meets the eye. She can do so much if you have, as I said at the beginning, manipulated the map to your advantage. For example, placing wards near jungle minions makes them great escape/chasing tools. When running away or towards an enemy champion, you can use Shadow Dance to dash to the jungle mionion and escape/catch up. You can use enemy minions for Shadow Dance as well.

Another unique trick is Twilight Shroud. There are many things you can do when concealed within the shroud. Don't forget, they can't see you, so take your time, you have 8 seconds! If you place Twilight Shroud beside a wall, you can enter the shroud then flash through the wall, and your opponent will just wait there until they can see you (you'll be long gone by then).

With Rylai's Crystal Scepter, all of your abilities slow your opponent. If you are fleeing a close-range fight, just use Crescent Slash and run away (with movement speed 3 boots you should easily out-run them).

Summary

Thank you for reading this guide, I hope I have shown you the path to enlightenment. It took me some time to master Akali, but now I win 80% of games I play with her, following this guide. There are many neat tricks I have learned, mostly involving Twilight Shroud and Shadow Dance, and maybe you will learn some of your own which you will then share with the rest of the LOL world. This was my first full guide, so if you like it please like it, litteraly (there's a like button you can click, fyi). Stay tuned, for I am about to master Riven, who is the second greatest hero, next to Akali, of course.
