Introduction
So first to be clear. Im not good at this game, at regular udyr or at support, but udyr support is perfect. Ive collected a few games on him with premade and randoms, it was insanely fun and interesting. I normally theorycraft a lot in other games and lol so builds like this interest me. Its absolutely not meta but i wouldnt say that its shot either. I think udyr support is like Kayn top. Not optimal but viable to play. Its just a hard pick to play and lots of adcs will hate you, even be disgusted from you. Its just too fun to not do it. I hope you enjoy the knowledge given down below and i want to excuse myself for the spelling mistakes i make a lot of them while typing and im not a native english speaker.
Laning Phase
You are weak, deal near to no damage, cant tank anything, cant gapclose or cc and should absolutely deafen yourself. Atleast in the early laning phase. Level 1 is miserable. No matter what you skill first. With r you can try to do anything but you would have to waste your awakened form to not d!e. So just skill e, dodge skillshots and maybe cc someone for example in an invade. Level 2 you either get the option to tank for your adc, heal a bit and maybe take a trade with w or you can skill R and deal some damage maybe even get an engage and then recall directly after that because you probably would d!e otherwise but with awakened r you will push the wave automatically. Knowing your passive and abilities well is very important. For example if you want to engage a Jhin Lux comp what do you do. Seriously ask yourself how would you play. So we think about the scenario and we say Lux has all abilties up Jhin too you have passive and w-r-e. In my opionion you should try to engage with e on, obviously, and try to dodge the skillshots. If you dont gett ccd then you stun whichever target is low, stands near you and is in a bad position and is oneshottable. Then after you stunned one of them press r twice for awakened form to deal max damage and slow the enemy.Then auto attack the enemy twice into w aa twice to heal and then press e again and walk out. Know if you get hit by cc while engaging press double e for unstoppable press r after stunning one of them and instantly cast w aa twice and then run for your life. Obviously it depends on your adc too and the enemys but you understand the point. After first recall just play the lane, maybe take an engage if you have the feeling you can k!ll them , learn your limits ( Thats insanely important with udyr support) and think about the late game just so you dont completely crashout. Optimally you leave lane with a dead mans plate and support item best case you already start to build Cosmic drive. You can try to roam. You have lots of ms so it doesnt take very long you also have waterwalking and with numbers advantage you win guaranteed but without awakaned form your laner should have some gank setup. Another important thing is to try your best for securing Feats of strength because crimson lucidity is just insanely strong on your champ. It feels super good, Strong and illegal to have basically a full item worth of passive and stats fitting perfectly to your champ. Its like a second passive at this point. Otherwise than that you should really think about your scaling because thats very well.
Mid game
Know you start to scale a bit. It feels a bit like mundo. You can do something now but you arent super op. Early midgame you should sprint to midlane and make plays like a maniac. Play for as much gold as you can possibly get. Ping those wards for the 5 bonus gold because you will need them. When you finally have cosmic drive the priority and playstyle changes a bit. You wanna hit your r on an enemy first. Try to not use awakaned for if possible but if needed just sacrifice it. If you can hit your r circle on an enemy just full engage on them cc them with e, w ( Twice if possible) and autoattack twice but only if you feel tanky enough to tank whoever is in front of you for the time autoattacking, Then R again you can auto again and then just run away with e. You are very reliant on high damage teammates because without them nobody will d!e, you just take damage until you d!e and you cc and engage them just for your tank to jump in and still not kill them. But just how i said earlier not only your playstyle but especially your priority changes. Instead of making plays where you gank an overextending enemy, you join in a fight to get numbers advantage or secure an objective you now wanna fight teamfights the whole time. This of course wont happen but you should try to initiate as much teamfights as possible. Of course it is optimal to have something like Swain, Mf or Ornn to fight in Teamfights but you can make everything work in Teamfights as long as your Team isnt too behind. You want to teamfight in a very special manner. You wanna hit somebody with r if you need to double r your kinda cooked tbh but you can still try. After you hit r you wanna e in double e if they cc you and then you just run around an cc one after another because your e has a cooldown per person. You just should perma press e and cc the enemy team with w sometimes in between to tank a little bit more but if you think you get in a dangerous zone of health run away with e again. You are kinda like a little moskito fliying in front of them. They cant really k!ll you ( if you play it right) but you still annoy them with your stuns and shredd their armor. You should think of your gameplay like a lighthning chaining through the enemies. You want to run to one after another and this again and again until your lighting power ( your health ) isnt enough anymore. And just like a lightning if someone like vladimir gets untargetable just go to the next person. This gameplay is pretty easy. The main cornerstones you need to be cautious of are the dodging of skillshots with your ms, wich shouldnt be that hard given that you peak at around 900-1000 Ms, the limits of yoour build and champ and the damage of the enemies to evaluate when to disengage and when to call a fight and when to chill out. Leaving midgame you honestly should be almost full build if you want to have at least good viability in late game
Late Game
Now its a bit akward for you to play. The enemys got more items you fall of and you kinda get a tank support with good mobility and a bit of cc. The midgame playstyle is still what you wanna do just with 100 percent more cautiosness and brain. You should be aware of the fact that you cant tank sooo much anymore until you got your second tank item ( dead mans or force of nature). And solistice sleigh ( support item ) is not as strong anymore. It is not weak definitely but zekes makes you a lot more usefull its just kinda boring tbh. You should try to be a bit like a singed. You annoy the enemys run in front of them ,behind them ,besides them and whatever but just without the k!ll!ng part. It sounds super weak i know but if you can reach full build before others do you are pretty tanky and if everyones fullbuild ,you just kinda fell of but still can play the game. This build is very knowledge heavy i would say. You need to know how you want to switch your items around, which runes you should run can change the whole game, how much damage will the enemies deal, how can i play early laning phase ( when to engage etc.), Which abilities to use when and wich to empower, when do you fall of, when to call a fight and when not to, when to roam and where and Where you should be running pathing etc ( that one is hard because you are insanely fast). And you could argue that you need to do that on every champ, which wouldnt be wrong, but Udyr support in this manner is very special, because if you do one fo these things wrong the impact on the game could be immense. You can lose fights, throw lane, fvck up your setup or int an objective because of one little thinking mistake. Of ocurse the lower the elo the less you will get punished but a small slipup can do lots of damages even in iron. Atleast thats what i experienced.
Conclusion
So Udyr support. A Mid game scaling "Tank" which trades his health and resistances for lots of mobility. A support who can truly solo carry a game. You surely could do that in jungle or toplane too but i think surviving early game, playing for objectives or splitpushing would nerf this playstyle a lot more than the gold problem he has. Maybe you already noticed but this champ scales with gold like a boss. Levels dont matter. Udyr support needs to be played with cautiousness and active thinking. Autopilot equals being doomed. I think the build is good as it is, if not even perfection. There are some things that may not seem optimal but i really think that the mixture of Off-Meta Build and viable strategy is near perfect. And playing a 1v1 must be immensly fun even if your chances are damn bad.
