Lore

The world is not always as civilized as people might think. There are still those who would follow the blackest paths of magic and become corrupted by the darker powers that flow through Runeterra. Shauna Vayne knows this fact well. As a young privileged girl in the heart of Demacias elite, her father tried to convince her of the constabulary's ever-vigilant eye. Young and nave, she truly believed that her world was one of perfect safety¦ until one night, when a twisted witch took interest in her father. The malevolent woman overcame her father's conciliar guard, then tortured her family before murdering them. The young Shauna escaped only by hiding herself and then fleeing once the hag had departed, plagued by the screams of her loved ones as she ran. A burning hatred was born in her that day, one that could never be denied.

Vayne was able to take care of herself using her fathers money, and she began to train as soon as an instructor would have her as a student. By the time she was a fully grown woman, she had become a grim warrior. However, the fields of battle were not to be her home. Demacia needed a protector, one who hunted those lost to the darkness. Shauna used her family's contacts to become the first Night Hunter, and now her prowess is the stuff of legends. It is said that those who practice the black arts quake when they hear that the Night Hunter is on the prowl. Despite her crusade, Shauna has looked at the League of Legends in horror. There are champions who have clearly lost themselves to the blackest of magics, and who have been embraced within the League even though they should be put down for the safety of all. The time has come for the Night Hunter to execute her secret mission to purge the League of Legends.

Introduction

Welcome to the league of legends champion guide, featuring Vayne, The Night Hunter.
Vayne is a ranged, dps, assassin. She is big on mobility and fighting one on one.

Ive looked at the top few vayne builds and have decided to give my own a try.
Ive only started playing vayne but shes a lot of fun to play and I have been winning most of my matches whether in solo mid or duo lane. I did solo once against a duo lane but my opponents were not the best of players.

Ive posted the abilities of Vayne and the scaling they receive from leveling I hope this will help people who want to make their own builds.

Note: This is unfinished, I just wanted to get it up so people can see the scaling on her skills. I don't know how to insert the pictures yet and I will do that later.

Credits to Phreak for core of the build.

Pros / Cons

Pros:
- Amazing Mobility
- Excellent Burst
- Incredible Chaser
- Tumble is awesome and fun!

Cons:
- squishy

Notes: Some people may say that its a con that tumble cannot move over terrain but considering its 2 seconds cooldown you cant be surprised. Remember trying to chase Nidalee?

Skills

Skills:

Passive:
Night Hunter: Vayne ruthlessly hunts evil-doers. She gains 40 movement speed when moving towards enemy champions.

Q Skill:
Tumble: Vayne tumbles a short distance and her next basic attack within 6 seconds deals ** bonus physical damage. This bonus is equal to 55/60/65/70/75% of her attack damage.
Mana:40/40/40/40/40
Cooldown: 6/5/4/3/2 seconds

W Skill:
Silver Bolts: Vayne tips her bolts with a rare metal, toxic to evil things. The third consecutive attack or ability against the same target deals an additional 20/30/40/50/60 plus 4/5/6/7/8% of target's max health as true damage.
Mana: N/A
Cooldown: Passive

E Skill:
Condemn: Vayne fires a huge bolt, dealing 50/90/130/170/210 (+ 0.5 times bonus attack damage) physical damage and knocking her target back. If they collide with terrain they take 50/90/130/170/210 (+ 0.5 times bonus attack damage) additional physical damage and will be stunned for 1.5 seconds.
Mana:90/90/90/90/90
Cooldown: 20/18/16/14/12

Skill Continued

R Skill: Ultimate
Final Hour: For 8/10/12 seconds Vayne gains 35/55/75 bonus attack damage, tumbling grants stealth for 1.5 seconds, and the bonus movement speed from Night Hunter is quadrupled.
Mana: 80/80/80
Cooldown: 70/70/70

Skill Sequence:
Tumble is Vayne's main skill and should be maxed first. Next is either Silver Bolts or Condemn

Silver Bolts = More sustained damage as you attack
Condemn = More Burst and poking damage

With the new patch I usually go for condemn over silver bolts because the base damage on silver bolts was reduced and I feel condemn serves me better personally. It's still up to your play style.

Items

After playing vayne for awhile and watching others play vayne, including Phreak during the live preview, Ive been using early rushed trinity force and madred's bloodrazor for damage.

Trinity Force proc with your tumble is amazing for damage.
Bloodrazors works perfectly with silver bolts for massive late game damage.

Trinity Force and Bloodrazors are the core of your damage because:

Trinity Force proc + Tumble = Poke Damage
Bloodrazors proc + Silver Bolts = sustained damage (Even to tanks because of true damage)

Berserker Boots: If the enemy team doesn't have much cc or your not being cced often
Mercury Treads: If the enemy team has alot of cc

The three items after this will have to be situational to your preference. Just fill in what you are missing. It will most likely be survivability so Banshee's veil or Guardians Angel or whatever else you need. Hexdrinker is for those pesky casters that seem to always save their spells for you. Get it if you like anywhere inside the build (earliest after sheen and boots).

Summoner Spells

Recommended:
Ghost + Flash: Ghost helps you escape (you passive doesn't work while running away) and Flash can be used for escape or better positioning.

Cleanse: A good spell but I have usually done well with just mercury treads.

Exhaust: Its Exhaust what else can you say. Some like it and some don't

Why I chose Ghost + Flash? Vayne is big on mobility and these are the two mobility spells. Match your summoner spells to your play style. Any of the four above spells will serve you well.

Early Game 1-9

Vayne doesn't lane well against champions with high burst like Annie or LeBlanc. But most of the time you will be able to, and should, be very aggressive towards the other hero getting in 3 hits for silver bolts whenever possible. If you farm well you can just stand behind his ranged creeps.

Start off with doran's blade or some other health item so your not so squishy. I just like the extra damage.

No matter what lane you go to farming creeps is key so that in the event you don't get many champion kills you have creep score to fall back on.

If you are really struggling in your lane you can buy another doran's blade but I wouldn't suggest more then two.

These abuse patterns are for when you are level 3 although I suggest against using condemn too much as you will become mana starved.

Abuse Patterns:
Basic attack -> Tumble attack -> Basic attack

Basic attack -> Tumble attack -> Condemn

Alternate pattern: (Harder to do)
Tumble attack -> Condemn (must be at max range) with immediate basic attack.

Mid Game 9-??

Honestly I have no idea where the phases of the game are. I can't tell and their not really characterized by anything. Every game is different and the phases of the game probably are as well.

Once you are around level 9 in a worse case scenario, meaning 0 champion kills, you should still have enough for sheen and Ionian Boots. If you have money for more then the rest of the game gets that much easier.

Now your tumble will proc the sheen buff (80% bonus damage) with the tumble buff (75% bonus damage) doing some pretty serious damage for 35 mana on a 2 second cooldown. With your ult adding 35 damage your tumble is just ridiculous. Oh and your invisible so they cant see until you shoot them. Whats worse for them is they have 2 seconds to focus you before you go invisible again.

You can get a max of 3 tumbles with your level 1 ultimate.
Abuse combos still hold.

After Trinity Force and Madred's Bloodrazor your damage output is amazing. Get some survivability so you don't get focused too easily.
