That thing in the back is distracting and there's no light source, the background is plain, also the render isn't blending. The hearts look great and the background is cool but still plain. To match the render some vector style but cartoony would looks good, or some stuff like Junk does.

Despite how simple it is, i like it. It's got something i can't explain that just makes me want to keep looking at it :D
However, if you want to improve on it, possibly using stroke for the render to make that vintage cartoon look would look nice, as infraynor suggested anything to match the comic-cartoon style.
I think i have some nice backgrounds for these sort of renders, if i can find them i'll certainly send them you if you wish.
