your text doesn't seem to be anti-aliased which makes it pixilated on the edges. (that's what I see in all of your sigs)

Your newer one is a bit faded out. Hard to see both characters, unless that was the affect you were going for. Overall ~8 on your new one. I like the smokey appearance, just wish the characters were a bit sharper.
