so that white line isn't yours?
and that image is bad quality to start, you always want a big image to start with so you don't lose quality when resiziing...
use something like this instead.
1. Text needs to be blended better, use of clipping mask can help that.
2. Nice lighting, eyes are a bit overly dodged though.
3. And you need a border :P
Overall not bad for your first, just some things to work on.
Still don't understand what that line is about though T_T
and remember to use big pictures, and save in .png.

Clipping mask:
Write text
then hide text layer
new layer, image > apply image, OK
layer > create clipping mask (you should be on the new layer you just made)
show text layer
right click text layer, blending options > drop shadow
play around with clipping mask applied layer and opacity of it, till you get desired result.

what is that supposed to be? an avatar? can't really tell...
owait I see a tiger face
well
for one
move it up a little more, looks like the bottom of his head is cut off
move text all the way to the bottom right corner, more aesthetically appealing there
and border

IF you want it white. try making it MUCH thinner, because its so ugly.
Honestly, try making it black if you wont just make it transparent (although having it the same width as the current white line and be transparent would look the best)
