Well, it's good to practice a role or two. Once you hit around level 20 however, you really want to start mastering whatever you're good at. It's good to start trying out champions and different items until you find what you're good at =)

Find a champ that you like, and stick whit it. If you fell competent enough in a Champ, you will play better.

I'm trying to expand the number of character roles I play, but that hasn't worked out really well. In the time I've played LoL I have found a love for ranged carries and mages. Hopefully with help and practice I'll get better.
