I recently started doing absolutely terrible in nearly all of my games. I have a pretty good understanding of the game but lately I have been doing horribly. Did this happen to anyone else?

all of the people that are smurfing that used to carry the games at lower levels are probably gone, other people start getting better at the game, the ones that rage quit all the time at earlier levels probably quit LoL

pretty much now that yer level 20 people are going to start buying runes/using masteries and youll be playing against better people

Runes and masteries can indeed make a huge game changing experience, mostly during laning phase.

With some brains, you simply roflstomp every non-smurf (and even some bad smurfs) before that.
At level 20 the "slow" ones start to realize what the game is about.

Matchmaking might just be getting more accurate with your skill level.

20 was when i started to absolutely dominate.

Are you playing 1 champion, or multiple different champions?

I remember when I got crazy 30/0/0 Carry scores as vayne from level 8-20 and then when I hit 21 I suddenly dropped to something like 12/4/9 and thought I was doing bad until I learned that it's a more passive playfield and that ADC's don't normally go 30/0/0 in high level play. Learned that watching Doublelift Chaox and the like play noticing they didn't necessarily get hundreds of kills, just made enough impact on a team fight to get a win.

In short, yes I did start doing poorly, but only because I was used to the environment of low level players and wasn't adapting to the new environment quite yet. I'm doing better now, but mostly as support :/.

Yes, I've been playing several characters. Some of my favorites are Diana, Blitzcrank, Irelia (although I just got her), Lee Sin (also just got him), and Amumu.

Don't play support. Keep up to scratch with your carries.
